Just wondering what those safety features are.

FLR and CMS just to name two, and improvements are frequently made to existing safety features.
I hope it is not your position that no safety improvements have been made since 2000 -
Your idea of a "safety feature" and mine likely differ. What YOU call a "safety feature", I see as a distraction at best and an obstacle to have to overcome in order to achieve safety at worst. Whenever the vehicle's computer utilizes a few specific parameters to justify taking control over vehicle functions (cut the throttle, apply brakes, etc...) it often times misses the big picture as seen by the driver. This, coupled with false readings from sensors, produce an unexpected reaction from the vehicle requiring the driver to adjust his plan of action, potentially eliminating options along the way which the driver might otherwise have available to keep himself, his rig, and the load "safe".
My truck has lane departure monitoring...a mirror on each side. My truck has adaptive speed control...my right foot. My truck has an advanced collision avoidance system...a skilled driver. I've also got a 100% reliable method for recording my hours of service...pen and paper. -
Or they continue to run safely like they always have and people stop attributing their own problems onto others.

I think you guys are reading me wrong. I hate ELDs and will never ever use one. The point of the OP is that Big Gov has, over the years, foisted many so-called "safety features" on drivers, and now many drivers are looking at older equipment to avoid ELDs. In other words Big Gov shot itself in the foot

What you don't see is that the 90's era rigs safety features actually increased over the old iron back in the day.
When people pull up in a older rig, even a ELD exempt one i drove before in my life I can hop right in and take off. No problems. It will do what it will do. The HOS can take care of itself. -
Obvious answer right!

I have an idea, how about everyone just pay attention to WTF you are doing (driving), then you won't need all those new fangled safety features.

Sorry, not familiar with the acronyms.
Anyway, I'm honestly not aware of any major safety features since '99 a and don't see a properly maintained 90's truck as a problem.
I wish I had one.
