Block heaters here in Manitoba stay plugged in 24/7 regardless if the temperature drops below about 5°F.

If you've got a long electrical lead i'd put an old electric blanket over the engine, you can also buy those rechargeble battery boosters i think there called heavy duty jump starters also you can spray that diesel help start fluid {diethyl ether based} up the air cleaner that certainly will help fire it up quickly..

    10 deg. here.
plugged in, started right up, but air for PTO to run Hyd. pump was froze. Yes, I bled the tanks.
Had torpedo heater on it 3 Hrs. with plywood on other side, and tarp over front bumper, no way. Still froze.
Put air brake antifreeze in disconnected hose right from pump. still no go.
Put it in a friends auto shop overnight and that did it. Lotsa fun!!

I just plugged the truck in overnight and kept the battery charger on it. Got up this morning and it was -11. Wife's crv didn't even want to start. The truck though, cranked right over without issue

That pic was 1974, I think. Just don't make fun of my mullet or my bell bottoms, that's how things were back then, lol. Yeah that truck had Armstrong steering, most cabovers did. Some cabovers had what they called center point manual steering, was supposed to be an improvement. I never noticed it.
