Don't know how the politics breaks down but turns out I will be working for a CONTRACTOR of FedEx but yet wear uniform, drive their vehicles etc. Learned basic facility layout, how to identify and sort packages for stops, loading strategies, scanner operation, and lot of admin stuff. Will be assigned trainer, vehicle and route next week. To be continued....

At Dutch maid there is only one account that we have to unload with. 95% of what we do is no touch or you pay the lumped. By the way, you don't have to take the loads we have to unload.

Smh, answered all questions truthfully so they had all information necessary to decide ...and one would think they would complete this before moving forward but after info came back from HireRight they rescinded the offer..kinda feel part of it was my questions of terms of employment compensation etc. The owner seemed like he was looking for desperate people that just wanted to get paid flat fee daily and not ask many questions which everyone except me was. When I asked where was the employee handbook, he said if he gave us one then he'd be obligated to honor what was in it ?!? Back with regional courier not missing a beat. I've narrowed down to a few companies otr, but they all require me to have CDL permit first so will update once I knock that out.

    Go tanker, young man.

No touch, and treated better at most shippers/receivers than van drivers.

    No lumpers, EVER....

New drivers stress about product surge, not a huge deal, you either get used to it or you don't. Drive gently, keep your head on a swivel, and ask questions. You don't need any of that "ping-pong ball on the dash", or "coffee cup on the floor" malarkey to learn to drive a tanker. Just drive it.

Every little bit I learn my desire on how I want to move in the business changes for the better. I'm actually glad in hindsight that these delays have given me more time to analyze the business giving me the best chance for success and fulfillment.

Just wanting to hurry up and get going driving without truly understanding the business language I narrowly avoided some raw deals. I really see now how companies/recruiters count on ignorance, desperation, and rushing in to their advantage.

I don't know if I will be able to start there but I do think tanker is where I want to end up. I want my score to be high as possible so about two more weeks of reviewing Im gonna take my permit test. For Ohio I read it lasts for 60 days & I can renew only once for another 60 days.

My uncle is trying to put together a private apprenticeship with one of his buddies once I get my permit to avoid self paying for school and any sponsored contracts. My supervisor is also gonna do the same thing with his bro in law once he gets off road. Hes otr mover and maybe we can work out apprentice/ride along lumper deal. If none of this pans out I got finances mapped out to self pay school before the 120 runs out on the permit. The turtle is slowly walking down his plan lol..
