Ask about accessorial pays. Don't be concerned about cents-per-mile too much; it's the accessorial pays that really matter. These are pays for responsibilities other than driving. You don't want to work for free when you're not driving. Some companies even pay for layovers and maybe a few dollars a day to help with meals. Detention pay is paid while you're waiting for the truck to be loaded or unloaded, etc.
Dan.S and Need4Speed Thank this. -

Where is your location? We can give you a few names of companies the school may not have heard of. Are you over 21,22 or 23 yrs. old?

Ask if they pay real miles or zip code to zip code.
easytopleez33 and Need4Speed Thank this. -

Some companies kick in a few dollars to help out with meal expenses. One place I worked gave us $10.00 a day to help; that's $70.00 a week for each driver. We even had drivers whine about that.CrappieJunkie Thanks this.

Ask them why, if their company is such a great place for drivers and their drivers are rolling in the dough, are they working in recruiting instead of driving.Axl99, Need4Speed, Streetroddreams and 1 other person Thank this.

Don't forget to ask how long it takes them to pay out the hire bonus they are offering. But most time the answer is comical.
RustyChops41, Need4Speed and Streetroddreams Thank this.
