dash cam or better yet a google cam!

Walmart has one for $9. It works ok. I have 1

 

The only thing I am looking forward to about getting old and senile is going out and buying the biggest RV I can find on my credit card of course and having an excuse to play random bumper cars on the freeway.

 

i use a cheap chinese model off amazon for like $30 with built in wifi so I can pull videos to my phone. Been using one for about 7 years now. Thinking about upgrading to at least a three camera model for better coverage

 

if you have an old smart phone laying around you can use it as a dash cam too just download an app on it. I used an old iphone like that till the battery swelled up from being plugged in constantly.

 

If you're a commercial driver and you do not have dash cams on your truck you are making a big mistake

 

I have a drive-right camera pointing at both the road and at my face. I do not have access to anything recorded unless my own company sends me a link to a 20 second video of me violating company rules.

 

I go solo. Stay calm and excuse ignorant behaviour. A cam is like a log book...everyone will try to use it against u. Everyone wants to see what you did before the accident and they go on that. Load u'r truck up with lane departure and proximity sensors that record and save. Shows u'r good control of your truck and not your responses to ignorant behaviour.

 

when you choosing dahs cam, make sure it has the best night video quality, usually processor means a lot for that

I had a wreck caused by an eratically-driven BMW idiot in December of 2016 with a nice (so I thought,) dash cam that I figured would save the day. Upon review we found that the camera was in it's "dead spot" clearing prior used space at impact. Lot of good that did me, lol. What did help though was the two off duty Massachusetts police officers that were right there behind me when the jerk wiped out in front of me and I slammed into him. Pretty much a cut and dried case, all I have to do now is wait a couple or three years for the lawyers to do their thing. Probably going to be a waste of time, but they're on it anyway.

I'd love to find another system of cameras that can watch in 3 directions if at all possible, because the fun is all around me anymore.
