Wow, you even have instructions with yours lol
WesternPlains Thanks this. -
Ok, then make sure brakes are set, pull button out, you will hear jaws open, push in yellow button, ease out from under trailer and once clear push jaw button back in. Make sure to dolly legs down first, LOL.
WesternPlains Thanks this. -
oh you meant the jaws,,thought you were talking 5th wheel slide. Dash lock on jaws just seems a bad idea considering. All I have ever had are manual and some are double locked with a manual pull on both sides of 5th wheel
mhyn and WesternPlains Thank this. -
Yet? It’s still ok to use the mechanical release arm on the fifth wheel. Correct?
No problem arises from this electric release if I do? -
None at all, it’s a fail safe in case the switch malfunctions. Might want to have an extended hook depending on how short the handle is. My cascadia gets me dirty if I don’t use one.WesternPlains Thanks this.

It's not electric. It's pneumatic. Same system that unlocks the 5th wheel slider pins, it just releases the jaws instead.
That said, yes you can manually pull the lever to release, but you are also pulling against that pneumatic piston so it can feel like there is still pressure on the kingping. But your not fighting the kingpin, you are fighting that cylinder.Last edited: Feb 23, 2018
