Is that a old M48 Duster?

Im not exactly sure of the model. Tracks tell me M48 but Gun tells me not a airdefense unit with twin. It's too small to be a full bore M60 (Which was a gas lighter in it's day, you would think they learned from the Roson shermans in ww2...)

It does look like a runner to me. Maybe a bit of cleanup.

Here is a dumb question. Does the #### thing shoot or is it demilled? And are you operating it as part of a tank park where people show up, pay some money. Attend a field class to drive, ride etc and go forth in a tank? Michigan has a park, that one features either a Chieftan 1 or a T72 I think, but uncertain. One in San Antonio features a Sherman Easy 8 that actually shoots on private land after a stack of waivers are signed.

It is an m18 Hellcat and yes it does run. It was live fire but the gun was badly damaged in an accident, tragically killing the previous owner and another reenactor when it blew. We do plan to restore it to live fire again. For Private collection

Aww Im sorry to hear that. You probably want to machine a new cylinder and breech to put on that barrel if the barrel is still any good.

Im assuming you don't share any complications from possible souls trapped in that thing and wanting out.

I hope that you forgive my seriously off target shot on model number. I did not say this to insult in any way. I am pretty obsolete in tinkering stuff and have to spend some time to get caught up.

Maybe that tank is fun to run? It does not look like more than say 20 ton. A pair of 350's would really have that thing rock and roll well enough.

You are spot on with the 20 tons. 39,000 fighting weight. It is actually a tank destroyer with relatively light armor. The plus side is it can run 60mph+ which was fast in ww2 and still faster than even an abrams(governed).
Has an air cooled 9 cylinder radial 1000 cubic inch

I realize that you decided to let someone else haul but I'll still comment.
If you are operating a tractor / trailer with load, NOT IN COMMERCE, then there is no CDL required. None of the federal rules apply. If I were to stop you, hauling your tank, the first thing I'd have to do is establish whether or not you were in commerce. You say above that it is "for private use in the family." If that is so, then you would be good. If upon further questioning I found that you did something like restore and sell army equipment, then yes, you would have to meet all the federal regs.

But here's the issue: Except for people like me, that deal strictly with commercial trucks and regulations, most LE, will think incorrectly that you DO need a CDL, etc. So convincing me should be easy but convincing some small town officer, might be hard to difficult. So the thing to do in situations such as this would be to do your homework and carry documentation. Or hire someone else.

Hopefully, most LE that do not deal regularly with commercial trucks would leave you alone under the "when in doubt - don't," rule. But there's probably some that think they know, when they don't. Unfortunately.

If they ever give you any trouble at the coop, just swing that turret around toward them, I be they will wave you on through.
