To learn what failure is. That is first thing.
homeskillet, BoyWander, bowhunter67 and 2 others Thank this. -
1. Ability to work the days I choose to and stay at home with wife and kids when I choose to. Take a week or month long vacation whenever I choose.
2. Ability to go to the areas that I choose to. Avoid the areas I prefer not to travel.
3. My success is dependent solely on my own determination, hard work and performance. Not on how well I can kiss a dispatcher’s ###.
4. I like making more money for the time that I spend working.Bubbahead, homeskillet, DrFlush and 2 others Thank this. -
You forget that an unpaid truck owns you. And if bills are not paid ahead of time, or money is saved you do not take vacation.homeskillet, dunchues and BoyWander Thank this.

Correct in most cases.
In my case I have no truck payment on my 2000 Mack. Just purchased a 2019 dry van with cash and built my home myself in my 20s so I have no mortgage.
My insurance is my highest fixed expense at around $1200/month.
I may be quite a bit more flexible than others when they have $3000+ per month in truck and trailer payments.
Everyone’s situation is different so we all do this for different reasons. Those were mine.Bubbahead, homeskillet and Oldironfan Thank this. -
It can be a tough row to hoe for sure. I personally took many years of evaluating & determining what I believed would be the best plan of action for me. It's worked out as planned thus far. However, as we all know, life can turn on a dime.Bubbahead, homeskillet, Banker and 1 other person Thank this.
