Oh don't get me started on truck stops in the oil patch.

I will NEVER stop anywhere between the 10/20 split and Colorado City. That whole Permian Basin area is cursed for traffic, no parking, backed up fuel lines, and constant construction and blowing dust and dirt.

If you payed me $200k/yr I would not take a job of any sort anywhere near there. For all the money that flows into that region, you'd never know it to look around at all you see [and don't see]

That is the issue. The truck stops in question have all kinds of signs around that say NO DROPPED TRAILERS and you see them anyway. Come to find out they rent those spaces to the drivers/companies involved. Now it is their real estate, they can do as they wish. I can only guess the management is happier getting a $75 week parking fee in exchange for how ever much profit he might make from a transient series of freeloaders using the same spot and rarely buying fuel or anything inside.
Another nail in the coffin of "free parking".

Louisiana seems to be the norm: drop trailers here!
Moms and Pops too. Getting to be really annoying.

Man this sounds so rough... if I ever become a driver I'm going to plan a stop when I'm not even empty just to avoid this kinda drama...

Pulled into the Wal-Mart in Liberal KS. No dropped trailer signs everywhere and 5 dropped trailers taking up spots. Locals home for the weekend I guess.

Yea, I grew up out there. Sad to see how it is now days. Was once the richest per/capita city in the US. Still a lot of money out there. Most everything is old and still as it was 30 years ago, only a lot more run down. They should be ashamed.

The Wilco converted to a Pilot off 77 in NC I think it is. It’s next door to a Quik Trip which really is no better. Locals everywhere all the time.
