Florida has been setting up unmanned small scales with cameras all along the back routes that truckers use to bypass the larger 24/7 scales. You really need to know your way around to get around some of the newer ones.

It seems to be a sink or swim type deal. They are either open with a vengeance or shut down and boarded up.

I wish it would become a world of truckers and DOT wanting to work together instead of a game of cat and mouse. It’s like being a criminal and constantly running from the police

For instance, his morning I blow a tire and knock out two tail lights. To get it back to the shop I had to go 35 miles back north. It was 0230 am so no traffic but I couldn’t run the freeway home because of the super coop that would put me OOS. Instead of getting someone in trouble and fining them, why not work with them and use common sense. So instead I had to go around which added another 30 minutes

Ya know what grinds my gears? Georgia taking all the open/closed signs down at the scale and using the weigh in motion system with “bypass” or “enter scales” sign boards. That works great with legal freight but with an oversize load we now have to enter and stop at every single scale. Most of the time they are closed.
