I agree.
I'm 57 years old and still flatbedding.
Don't care to much for fighting the tarps on a windy icy day, but I do it.
I'd rather be flatbedding until they have to pry the steering wheel from my stone cold hands, than sitting on my butt, swinging a couple of doors, and getting fat.
Every load is different and requires some thought, unlike box where all they have to do is open doors, wait for a green light and go.FerrissWheel, Highway Sailor, cke and 2 others Thank this. -
^^Yes Sir! I should add that if every load was not different I would not like flatbedding either.
Props to you Sir and I'll be 57 in about 11 years and I hope top still be doing it!cke Thanks this. -
Well I do flat with side kit, van, and Hopper. Man can I tell when I haven't pulled The flat for awhile. Hopper is even lazier I have a electric roll tarp with remote. lol No electric shoots, because you need to get out once in awhile, and I figured it could lead to having grain were you didn't want it. I can go to flatbed and lose 10 pounds in a week or 2.
Mattflat362 and FerrissWheel Thank this. -
How often does everyone have to stop and tend to the tarps?
FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
Typically I don't have to, unless it's just a really akward load. Which I don't get these days. Gypsum is about the easiest thing too tarp. Unlike forklifts and pallet jacks. Oi.
I mean, that's as about as complicated as gypsum gets. Unlike structural steel that requires an entire carpet store to protect your tarps.
I do look em over on saftey checks while I'm making sure nothings going south.Mattflat362 and 6wheeler Thank this. -
####. I cannot wait to start flatbedding. Other than the tarpping in the snow thing.
Mattflat362 Thanks this. -
Nice! I dig the stripes too @wore outspyder7723 Thanks this.

You will become an expert at layering clothes and tough outer gear. I use my lumber and/ or chains to hold down tarps on windy days.Gumper Thanks this.

I’m already an expert at the cold weather thing. I assume working outside in sub zero temperatures with a half frozen tarp in a snow storm with a side wind sucks.Mattflat362 Thanks this.
