For the 200-240 mile bids what is the pay while waiting for the return trailers? Same as working dock?

Are you hitting your 14 hrs everyday or does it vary?

    I
Not even close. Ive probably had less than 6 nights where I got to 14. Once was because of snow.
Lots of 9 to 11 hour nights. Again, it depends on the run. Our longest run can be done in 12 hours if you keep it jamming down the highway. For me at the beginner rate, the times I've gotten to do the longest run(they added an extra driver or one of the guys was off or sick or on vacay)I made about 350 bucks in about 12 hours. Not bad huh?
But on the regular I work about 9 to 10 hours total a night.

    JOHNQPUBLIC and artek Thank this.

Yes, on the 200-240 bids the pay is dock pay while waiting, but only if you go in and work the dock. As far as I know there is no pay for napping in the truck lol. Usually on those runs you only wait about 1 to 2 hours...first 15 minutes you are breaking down your set and putting the trailers away so that is paid for half an hour(usually doesnt take much more than 15 minutes like,I said, but they pay half hour set rate). Then of course the 30 minute DOT break. So when all,is said and done youre only hanging about maybe an hour. Again, it all depends. But you have the option of working dock for that time.

From what I've heard from drivers very little OT daily and weekly.
45-50 hrs per week at most for drivers. OT is nonexistent for PT and FT dock workers.

Had the interview on Friday. I think and hope it went well. There were a few very basic math questions and reading questions. The interviewer said it would be a few days and hopefully I will hear back.
I would be thrilled to get a position as a drivers apprentance. It seems like a very fair and good place to start. Fingers crossed.

Glad I looked into this, guess it's true that if it sounds too good to be true, it is! I want no part of working the dock! Thought this was running trailers from one service center, swap, and back home, no dock work. I worked for Conway years ago, worst job of my life, not working dock again...ever.

    Coover Thanks this.
