That can depend on the D.O.T. officer. Some will cite driver some company and some both although I do not claim to be the authority on this, just what I have heard.

In my oppinion the person that was having all these issues with the truck may have not done a proper pretrip.

The person should also be cited for log falsification if that person logged a pre or post trip inspection.

Defroster not working I think that is enough to be put out of service if not out of service definatly a large ticket or both to the driver.

You are the driver of the vehicle you are to inspect the vehicle to insure that it is a safe vehicle to operate on the roadways.

If you decided not to make waves and not refuse to drive the truck was not safe that was your choice but who would be charged when the defroster was not working and you had an accident and killed somone because you could not see through the windshield?

Or If it had bad brakes and you choose not to report that and you rear ended a school bus and killed everyone on board the bus.

I hope you are not driving a semi any longer as I belive that you will drive any unsafe vehicle just to keep from making waves.

You are a danger to eveyone including yourself and are not fit to be a proffessional driver as you already proved that you will drive anything with major issues just because you are told to.

Trucking is not for everyone maybe you thought trucking was something it is not.

You have been saying people that do not have problems are liar's I have seen that several times in your posts.

I am sure most people are having issues but they do something about it.
They call the company and tell them hey I need to get the truck fixed here is the issues and they go to a place and get it fixed.

They do not continue to drive a unsafe truck then come on here and whine about it.

 

Well atleast you noted the problems but you were still suppose to refuse to drive it untill everything was fixed.

I would of said hey dot man lets do a saftey inspection on all the trucks in the yard.

There is not any reason a company needs to let their trucks be that run down.

I had issues with getting tires on trailers that had issues with at the company I was working for I told them here sign this document to say the tires are legal incase I get nailed for them.

I could say here is what the mechanic said when I showed the tires to him that way the dot has to right the company the ticket not the driver.

I see were they were comming from on the tires but how much are they saving by not replacing them untill they blow vs the costs to have them replaced on the side of the road.
