@superhauler (or anyone, really) is there a proper way to use a reamer? Seems to me you recommended using one.
Low speed and lots of cutting oil? Or high speed like a milling machine type deal?

The one I got is made in the USA and not cheap. So if possible I'd prefer to not abuse it.

It seems @1951 ford was talking about using one of those the other day too.

That is how trucking goes sometimes. Did you take a peek at your old tranny to see what might of happened or did you just replace and go?

When I used reamers to drill into the frame rail I used them in a cordless drill at the highest speed setting. I used a lot of lubricant to keep it cool. Those reamers are awesome, like a hot knife going through butter. They are not cheap so be careful with them.

Were you able to swap for an 18, or put another 13 in?

I figured to have a squeeze bottle with cutting fluid and try to keep a constant flow, like a milling machine. Then, speed/pressure depending on who says what for speed, and just take my time.

As a general rule with any cutter....around a 1000rpm at a 1/4"....375rpm at 3/4". Keep even pressure and let the tool do the work. Watch you filings....They'll tell you what to do. Your looking for a straw color...if they are blue your burning up the cutter...slow your rpm's. Chatter is the worst thing for your cutting edge. And always keep your tool cool.
