Hey guys and gals, new to the forum here!
I have quick question about going from a cat c15 550hp to a DD15 560hp. I run mostly in the hills and run loads around 108,000 pounds. Wondering if someone with experience driving a dd15 could give me a little insight on how they like to run and particularly shift. Never have to push the kitty over 15 or 1600 rpm and I'm wondering if I can expect the same from the detroit in the same rpm range the c15 likes?

DD15 560 HP does not exist. You may see on label 560HP value but if you connect the diagnostic software you will see it is 505 HP or lower..
-
And the worst part of it is you'll have to post a picture of the new truck you're driving, because I don't think that red Pete has a DD15 engine in it!!!

Big NOPE on the detroit/pete lol But after looking into it the dd15's only pushing 505hp....should be a big let down... hopefully short lived

They do have pretty good bottom end torque, not sure how that translates to pulling the heavier loads, but they do pull down pretty well to 1000 rpms.

Thanks for the input all! Haven't had any personal experience with the detroits, mostly cat and a few cummins

The isx 12 I drove in the oilfields (425/1650) seemed like they would walk all over the 455hp dd15 I'm in now. The jakes on the 09 I'm in suck. The newer dd has better jake especially paired with dt 12 trans

Depends on the motor setup.
The 16 FL i drove with DD15 had the best jakes I've ever had. the 13 FL was pretty close.
The 06 C15 i drive now. Don't have much torque and power. And the power range is 1500 to 1800. I can't climb the hills with anything lower.
I think it's only rated for 400 hp. I pull close to 100k and i get my doors blown off by doubles all the time. They pull max weight of 129k.Oxbow Thanks this. -
Get one with a DD16, mine has 600 hp at 1,850 torque. You can also get it with 2,050 torque. But the dealer said tires wear down faster due to the excess torque.
