Wait a sec - I glossed over some of the pay breakdown but did I read this right?
You thought you would work a month on, 1 day off, pulling 60ish hour weeks for $56k/year? And you were actually excited about that?
I’ve never really understood the push for hourly jobs because in my job market hourly trucking pays about $15/hr, and I’m averaging $35/hr (plus there’s 2 of us, so at 120hrs a week the cheques add up nicely).
Of course, I don’t work a month at a time for one lousy day off. I haven’t needed to wash my clothes in a truck stop for years because I won’t take a job that requires being gone longer than 12 days. Now I am gone 7, and can take up to 5 days off.
In what universe is working 250 hrs a month for $56k even remotely competitive?
