This. This kills more owner operators than anything. They start making good money and start spending it. New pick up, new boat, new 4 wheeler. New appliances and furniture. Only a little money set aside and a whole lot of monthly payments.

I did the same stupid ####. Luckily i got an eye opening wake up call that didn't put me under, just close enough to get my attention.

Lol that threw me for a second, I was thinking you got brain damage from heatstroke out there in the desert and did something uncharacteristically stupid.

Until I remembered the topic of the thread.....

Yeah, another O/O at my company bought a Prostar a few months ago for dirt cheap. It has the Cummins ISX that has been the reason for the class action lawsuit. I wish him the best, but I don't feel good about his chances.

Most place have a local group that works with small businesses. usually called the "Small Business Development Council" or something along that line. They may give you a referral to a local accountant that does trucks.

Shop in threes. That's the advice my dad gave me and it has served me well.

Select three accountants to interview. Make a half hour appointment with each. Be up front that you are shopping for an accountant and the interview is for the purpose of selecting one. Those interviews should be free and it's great getting free advice or even referrals to an accountant that better fits your needs.

DON'T schedule those interviews in tax season.
