Any of you who run APUs have any issues at altitude?
Sure it's the air/fuel mixture but it always runs rough when I'm in Denver. Didn't think ThermoKing would have these kind of issues but...SAR, Oxbow, Crusader66 and 2 others Thank this. -

I was looking hard at a 2016 F350 with a 6.2. It was loaded and had the 8' bed, 4WD. The only reason I didn't pull the trigger on it is because there is nothing wrong with mine and it's paid for, and it was in Williston, ND. If it had been around here I might not have been able to pass up the temptation.
From what I've read the 6.2 is pretty dependable. A lot of folks say you can't go wrong with the 6.2 or the 6.0, just depends on what manufacturer you prefer. I'm not loyal to anybody, just whoever has the right price in what I'm looking for at the time. I've only had one problem with mine since I've had it, Cam position sensor. It had 148,000 miles on it and was a year old when I bought it.
I talked to the guy that had it before me and he used it to haul light towers to oil rig sites here in Ok, Tx, and Ks. The only problem he had with it was the transmission, it went out at 130,000 miles and GM put a brand new one in it for him. He just traded it in because of the miles and had ordered another one just like it.
I'd say go for it @Oxbow , get a F350 gasser. You can get on some of those Ford forums and see what they've got to say about that motor too, might help you out a little. -
Thanks Bear!SAR, Crusader66, 1951 ford and 2 others Thank this.

Funny you say that because they were......right up to the point that the EPA told all of them not to produce another engine until it was settled, which of course would've taken years. So they all agreed to unreal fines based on units sold, Cummins and DDEC coughed up the most cash. This also set in motion the acceleration of emission compliance. I was working for a Cummins distributor when the Consent Decree came to pass and things have never been the same since. But don't kid yourself, I believe all of the North American diesel engine manufacturers had blood on their hands to some extent.Crusader66, 1951 ford and Shock Therapy Thank this.
