Unfortunately no, it's looking like my only option is a tear down.
-
I installed a zero pressure system on my cat to buy me some time. Hoping to push the truck till spring breakup. Here is a video of my secondary coolant tank..... yeah I think she's bubbling a bit!
-
Thought I would give a better video that shows the whole setup. Don't mind the dirty truck.... and that rubber glove is covering my espar connectors while it gets rebuilt haha.
SAR Thanks this. -
I wouldn't run it like that for long. Your risking more damage the longer you go.
Block erosion and possible bent rod from hydraulic will get you in the end.
That's perty bad. If it is like that at idle what the heck is it like under full boost??
If that was my truck i would be getting it fixed ASAP before it leaves you stranded somewhere.pushbroom, dustinbrock and SAR Thank this. -
Bump. Any updates?

I'm ripping the head off right now, on vacation for the long weekend then the heads coming off and I'll start measuring everything.
The thing gave out hard on me one day, truck started blowing massive pressure out of the coolant so I'm assuming I blew a fire ring. I'll update with what I find next week. -
Any updates on what was found when the head was removed?
dustinbrock Thanks this. -
Yes, when the mechanic rebuilt my engine he did not cut the counter bores. In 5 spots along the flange where the liner sits on the deck, I had bad wear.
Cat allows 1 thou..... I had 10 thou at one spot where it blew and 5 thou at another! What happened wasn't so much the head gasket blowing but the very top o-ring on my liner actually burnt and allowed combustion gases to go direct into the coolant.SAR Thanks this. -
Thanks for the update. Sounds like the liner may have been tilted in the bore. Did they cut the block and install lower sleeves?
