There may be other driving jobs out there that will pay a little more, but none can come close to being as fun as this one.
I have been doing this job for over 4 years now and just today I hit my fourth walmart customer with a tire that I rolled out of the trailer.
It happened in Colorado. The guy was just walking in front of the open trailer doors, looking at his phone and not paying attention to what was going on.
The Walmart tire mechanic that was catching the tires tried to warn the guy but the customer was too engrossed with his phone.
The tire just nails him right in the side of the head. He did not even see it coming.
Customer did not say a word, just walked away all embarrased.
Walmart employee and I could barely keep from laughing until he was gone. Even my boss loves hearing about our big hits. As long as I have my orange safety cones out while throwing the tires, it is all good.
Anyways besides getting to attack folks by throwing tires, it ain't a bad job at all. Yes I know a lot of you are thinking JB Hunt is a mega, therefor Baaad. You are just a number, bend over...
Like I said I have been on this account over four years now. Being a dedicated account of 30 drivers, you get the feel of working for a small company where you get to know and make friends with all the office folks. Yet they have the power of a mega at their disposal. If I got a truck problem it gets fixed immediately, if I want a different truck I only need to ask for one. I have never been denied a single favor or assistance that I have ever requested. Truck breakdowns are rare. Last time it happened was my fault for letting the diesel gel and yet they took care of getting it quickly fixed while paying me $150 a day for breakdown pay. Other than that it has been over two years since I had my last truck trouble. They keep real good care with maintanance.
I grossed over 70k last year. Money is not terrible either. That was while getting a 34 hour reset at home every weekend too. Biggest thing I love though is the office people, it just makes the job fun when you get to look forward to seeing all your support staff.

I guess hauling tires your job just goes around and around. I have hauled tires a couple of times I did not find any joy in it. However, to each their own.

I've hauled out of that place. Excel warehouse. But I was a lot younger then and the $100 a stop for throwing the tires was nice. Wouldn't do tires now though.

I'm glad you're happy, driver. However, I find floor loads to be absolutely repulsive and NEVER pay enough therefore I don't touch them. They have a word for people who move those loads.
