I'm going through the Squire program and I live in Las Vegas what I did was I studied on my own for my CDL permit and then I attended orientation at night and next I'll be going to Phoenix for training. Knight will pay for the training and the CDL I pay it back of course later on after I get my CDL, so the only things that come out of your pocket would be the hotel and transportation to Phoenix. I went to a place called foundation for an independent tomorrow they are contracted with Workforce and they ended up paying for my CDL permit, they paid for the deposit for orientation, they paid for my work boots and any work materials that I needed to start orientation. So the only thing that's coming out of my pocket up front is really just the travel and hotel when I get to Phoenix and later paying back the training. Google foundation for an independent tomorrow if you are in Vegas if not like the person said above look up the Workforce Connection they have agencies all over the United States and they will assist you with getting all of that stuff done you don't have to go to a CDL school it takes a long time I thought of doing that but it took way too much time and I didn't want to go through that process so if you are already hired as an employee they have a fast-track program and they will pay for everything that you need to start your employment key word is hired as an employee you have to convince them that you're hired as an employee and how I did that was I told them the day that I start orientation is the day that I'm hired because I am put on their payroll and my recruiter Emily co-signed it and everything worked out so it's just the wording that you use. To get anything from Workforce you have to have a letter of intent to hire so that's different from a pre-hire form you'll get that from Workforce have your recruiter fill it out there's going to be a section that list everything that you need to start training make sure your recruiter puts the deposit for orientation work boots work gloves your CDL permit gas reimbursement to orientation put all of that down there and Workforce will pay for it as long as it's listed on that intent to hire letter I hope this helps that's if you decide to do the Squire program and not go to a CDL School.
