First off, this thread is not speaking either for or against unions. Rather, the intent here is simply to notify the readers on this forum of an issue that is taking place, on a large scale, in all mandatory driver orientation classes offered by Schneider, and that any choices to be made are yours alone.

Among other things that are relevant to new hire information, Schneider is giving information, in class, that is quite misleading to anyone that might consider becoming a union member while employed with Schneider.
In other words; Schneider is trying to control your way of thinking towards it's own benefit.

Basically, the information being given is that, if you decide to join a union, you are also signing a contract that could really have negative consequences. Period.
Say's who? Those same consequences could also be very positive as well.

Bottom line here is that the choice to either join, or not join a union is strictly up to the individual. Why would Schneider be so fearful as to put so much effort into trying to manipulate one's decisions in the first place? I'll tell you why; it's because Schneider is frightened to death of unions because if the employees were to unionize, then they might make more than they are making now and that would mean less millions in profits for the few men at the top of the company ladder.

That's the real motivation for the anti union rhetoric being drilled into all the new faces in all the current orientation classes that are mandatory.

Regardless of weather unions are good or bad, the choice is up to you to make and before any choice is made, get information from both sides of the spectrum, not just Schneider's.

They we're showing that same video in 2013 and probably long before that.

I remember Don Schneider saying in the video that he wanted Schneider to be the kind of company that didn't need a union. LOL.

If they are doing that, and it can be proved, then they are setting themselves up for a lawsuit.

    Been there, done that........

Wasn't there a part of Schneider that was Teamsters?

Just so you know - the 12 union drivers at SNI make the same as any other driver.

And SNI position on unions is a direct result of the wildkat strikes of the 1970s. From dons perspective if he signs a contract with the people who represent you then you tell him to f off, why should he deal with your representative?

There's all kinds of scumbagery at Schneider.
Their mission statement ( core values) is nothing but a huge bag of manure!
Speaking from personal experience as a contractor.

And just so you know, the "12" union drivers at Schneider are union members with a union that has absolutely nothing to do with Schneider, since Schneider is completely non union at this time.
And it's been said that Don tells his drivers to f off every payday.

They were giving the same type of presentation about unions at my orientation with Schneider National...in 1991.
