On the Evan Lockridge show, Sirius road dog Friday she CLAIMED she used to be a truck driver.
I for one do not believe her.

In my opinion I think they should allow us to extend our day by not more then two hours if we take a break during the day to have lunch and a nap if we are tired.
I think the HOS rules push alot of drivers into driving when they are tired. I knwo that many times I am pushing the edge because stopping for a short nap would mean not getting to my destination within my clock. -
I think the Teamsters want to shorten hrs of service, especially drive time because it may require hiring of more drivers. Example: you can now reach Atlanta or Dallas in one leg from St. Louis. Those locations were out of reach before. There is also quality of life issues. I think the teamsters are pushing for more "meet and turn" freight to get their men home daily instead of having time away from home. That does make sense as it also reduces per diems, hotels, driver wait time at terminals, etc..

Seems as though the special interest groups have slipped,
and fallen back into it.
Take what'cha got that'cha asked for in the first place
and
Shet UP --- StoopiD.
Waaaaa -- Waaaaaa -- Waaaaaaa.
Can y'all just imagine what it'd be like if those special interest whackos got what they think they REALLY want?
Shux Howdy!
There'd be time-clocks in Big trucks that'd shut the Big engine down for a 10 hour break, --- where EVER than may be.
Maybe.
Meanwhile, back at the special interest offices, they'd be whinin' that they're outta toilet paper, and blamin' the Big truck truckin' industry for their dilemma.

What a bunch of crap.
If they lower the driving time any more in the US than what it already is, how will a guy make some money?
There are too many days where I am still rested after 11 hours of driving in a day. After all, sit at the wheel for 11 hours on open highway and I don't feel any different physically or mentally than I would be while sitting around on my couch on a saturday afternoon.
If they allowed 11 hours driving in a day, but extended the allowed work day to 16 hours like it is in Canada, I'm sure there would be more people willing to take more rest stops. Little Joe Yuppy in his office job works an 8 hour day (more if putting in long hours in the office). Should we start regulating his commute after he's been awake for 14 hours?
If they want to make any more driving laws, why not regulate the 60 year old bed$hitters who can hop into a large RV without a commercial license and run 20 hours/day.
That wrinkled prune should understand that some of us drivers just eat/sleep/drive when we are on the road. While in the states, I'm in bed sleeping after I've been awake for 14/15, getting 8-9 hours of sleep in my 10 hour break. My sleeping times slowly shifts over the course of a week. A guy who gets up at 6am for his office job, and goes to bed at midnight is awake for 18 hours and sleeps 6 hours at the most before getting ready for work again. When I'm running really hard I drive 11 hours with half hour break in the middle of that, and hop into bed after I've been awake for 11.5-12 hours because its the only way to make a good dime in the US.
Its all BS. The only thing tighter laws will promote is more cheating of the system.AfterShock Thanks this. -
All she did was sit in the cab to get the "Feel" one time.
She is no advocate to truckers as she claims to be.
She also expressed a desire to shorten the 11 to 8 the drivers and their mileage pay be ######.Brickman Thanks this. -
She manages that and guess we will be sitting alot. Or there will be a push to make every truck a team. -
The Teamsters (as posted above) are pushing for it as well since it will increase membership.
