I have sent my $100 in and I know I have to have $400 the first day of school. They take $20 a week out for how long and how much. What is the length of time you have to drive. Would like to hear from some recent graduates or if you are in school now. Thanks to all and Merry Christmas.

Is that millis? I found it varies greatly from company to company. If it is millis thought they quit taking the deposit like they used to. Almost went with them but didnt. Derrrr just saw the catagory it was in, didnt notice on the recent post list, Sorry. I often wondered the length of time, best I remember think its 2 yrs. Bad thing is from what I heard, if they decide they dont want you half way thru training or after you go with trainer, still owe the money,

    Hey Alabama Spirit,
I graduated the MTI school in Trenton, OH. last week. So heres the deal......On day one you will pay the remaining $400 dollars. You will also sign a "promisary note" stating that you will drive for Millis for atleast 12 months. During the first 12 months they will deduct $20 a week to pay for your schooling. Now heres the catch......there is an additional $2500 added to the first $2500 for a total of $5000. If you continue to drive for them after the first 12 months, but shorter than 24 months, you will pay the remaining money. However there is no payroll deduction like the first 12 months. So in essence, it is a $5000 two year contract. But like I said, you only have 12 months of payroll deductions. If you have more detailed questions call millis and talk to them.

Sketch: What if Millis cuts you loose during the class, or during/after the time with your trainer? If they don't actually put you in your own truck after the training period, what are you on the hook for, $2,500 or $5,000? Thanks, GD

I don't get how these companies justify that 5k bill, 2500 is high but somewhat reasonable for 3 wks of training, but 5k thats crazy. I trained with Maverick a little over a year ago, and it cost 1500. Sometimes I wonder if they don't kick out a guy or 2 to cover the costs of the others.

I don't know for sure, my plans where to stay here long as long as possible anyways. As for 5000 being high....well right now thats about the norm for CDL school and training. I've found some as high as 10,000! It is what it is......we all have to pay our dues somewhere. Right now Millis is the right fit for me.

So then in a nutshell, if you stay longer than 2 years it will only cost you $2,500....correct?

Thanks sketch. When i'm ready to choose a company to drive for...most likely Millis....it will be a company that I would stay with for a long time. I stayed at my last job for 31 years.

I know that it sounds shadey, but so far everyone has been on the up and up. It might not be what you want to hear, but its the truth. Some people don't feel comfortable with contracts, but if you plan on staying there, then its no big deal. I know that things may change over time, but its changing across the board, so its just about the same no matter where one goes in the industry. Best of luck with your desicion and hope to see you down the road.
