I have a bang/ rattle over washboard bumps, obviously some is normal but this isnt a normal sound. Anyways im pretty sure its my hood hitting the cowl, as there are indents on hood from the rivets on cowl. And some scuffing of paint where it hits. Only does it on drivers side, what could be the cause of this?

I would say you probably need to adjust the hood stops.
Chevyho Thanks this. -
Its a 389 pete by the way

K, thats where ill start. I was thinking of replacing the rubber blocks and adjusting as the hood strap feels looser on the drivers side as well.
-
Depending on the year it's probably a combination of both.
-
09, both blocks and adjustment you mean?

The cab mount bushings could be worn out causing excessive movement and misalignment of your cab, which in turn is causing your hood to rub on the cowl.

I think ill do those too, as they do looked dry and cracked. Prob a good idea to replace all associated bushings before making stop adjustments anways

Not sure about Peterbilt but KW recommended adjusting the cone-shaped rubber blocks down low on the firewall to hold the weight of the hood. The blocks up top were simply meant to prevent the hood from contacting the cowl when the frame flexed on extremely uneven terrain. The top blocks aren't meant to be in constant contact with the hood as they'll chew up the hood pretty quick. Like I said that was what KW told us 15 years ago and Pete's may be different.

Yah petes dont use those lower cones. Hood rests on top blocks all the time
AModelCat Thanks this.
