You can adjust the hood forward. If its the same as a 379 it'll be 2 bolts just above the pivots on the front of the hood. There's bushings that wear out on those aluminum brackets. Check to see if the gap is parallel between the hood and cab. 3/8 is lots for a gap.

Yes gap is parallel all the way across. U can see in the one picture how big the gap is, seems the same as all my other petes. Something has to be allowing movement and it hitting

I don't have a Pete, but when I replaced my front cab mount bushings last year it aligned the cab back to where it should be from the factory and restored the ride.
The cab was off to the left by 2-3".
When I saw the original bushings when they were removed they were all broken up inside and cracked.
If the bushings have never been changed, it's a big factor on why your hood is rubbing on the cowl.
Do the process of elimination first and take it from there.Chevyho Thanks this. -
Is it even in both sides? When you look from the front is the bottom of the grille parallel to the bumper? Thise front bushings can wear pretty fast. To check them open the hood and try to lift the hood vertically. Any more than a 1/8 or so is a sign. There's a panhard rod on the back of the bunk that can wear too.

Yes it is parallel to bumper and absolutley no movement in the front bushings. I havent checked panhard bushings thanks

Do you have air ride cab...?
If so how are the shocks on cab air ride...?
I’ve seen the shocks so bad (on a kw) that the air bag would have no resistance and drive the cab into the hood...... -
Those cab mounts can be a pita. Id move it forward and try it. If it loses the extra room them l'd tackle the cab mounts. Are the rear cab shocks still in alignment? If the cab is moving forward you should see it there too.

Ive done cab mounts several times, never had trouble. Usually bolt is corroded is the only hard part. Mounts are def original and dry rotting figure they need replacing anyways

Shocks visually appear ok, ill have to pull one off and see how it isCat sdp Thanks this.

I had a similar problem with a 378 Tri axle dump, but the nose was fiberglass, both sides at the edge where the hood curved down towards the side got chipped up.
it was from going off road, the hood would raise 3 to 4 inches and when it dropped it would hit the cab, in my case it was from the frame flexing and causing the hood to twist.
