Yup. Odds are that short load or whatever you are delivering is because a driver going home needed to drop it there. I have no problems helping guys get home, we'v all been there. Hell I've been asked to sweep a trailer and slide tandems on it at a customer before because they wouldnt load it until someone did. So i swept it out, and slid the tandems then proceeded to pick up my other trailer. For that 10mins of work I was given $25 in city pay on my next check.

    Anybody be in Memphis tomorrow?

So yesterday in training I conquered Monteagle, TN going down lol, felt pretty good about it. It got me thinking though what other mountain passes do we go through?

Well, Jellico on 75 is a pretty decent climb. The Gorge on 40 in Tennessee is a little rough. Then there is The Narrows. Hopefully your trainer will show you how to avoid that one. 220 and 460 are not roads I'll use again unless I absolutely cannot avoid them. 66 in PA is another fun one, yikes.

Dude Fancy Gap is nothing. Even with a really heavy load. That one is a breeze.

As you travel, you'll run across roads that are pretty hairy. Just make a mental note of them, and look for alternate routes. As long as you aren't going really far out of route, nobody will say anything to you. For example, 460 and 220. The most direct route from Trenton to Eden involves those roads. But, if you add 17 miles to your run, you can avoid them both. You'll still be on 220 a little, but not the bad parts. For almost every crappy road, there's a way around them. Not always, but most of the time.

Retraction... The Gorge is in North Carolina on 40, my bad. It starts a couple miles after you cross the border from Tennessee.

Hope ya don't mind. Ran 220 and 460 first time last week. Had to get from Eden over to WV Pike. I'm still tired from that ride. What other way is there?

I don't mind at all. Coming from Trenton, just go a little further down 77. You'll end up coming into Eden from the south instead of the north. It's worth the extra time, I promise you. In the end you'll burn less fuel as well. I'll look up the exact path shortly, not in my truck at the moment.
