Thank you for your help, I will look for the pinched o ring and get back with you with what I find

When you manually push/actuate solenoids, does oil come out exhaust which is bottom of housing opposite of solenoid. If any more than couple drops a second with solenoid actuated your solenoid is bypassing excessively and needs replaced. You should have burst of oil when you let off solenoid @ solenoid.

Jake tune up kit, run the rack, and hopefully you aren't like me and have to buy new jake housings!
Oxbow Thanks this. -
Got to run the motor yesterday and check for oil leaks. here's what I found. on the back Jake brake, I get a lot of oil out of the #5 master piston shaft when the solenoid is actuated. there's a little bloop of oil that comes out of each one of the control valve cover plates at first, then no more. I will rerun to check if the solenoid is leaking however, we did swap the solenoids from the first Jake to the third Jake and the problem stayed with the Jake..... now having looked at it and exploded diagram I'm wondering if I understand how this thing operates anyway. When the solenoid is mechanically activated, is oil pressure routed to the master piston which acts as a pressure Builder using the mechanical action of the rocker arm for the injector to pump to pressurize the slave cylinder and when there's too much pressure, the control valve releases the extra pressure.... I did notice a difference in the size of the master piston and the slave piston telling me that the slave piston and master piston combination are a pressure accumulator combination.... looked at a picture trying to figure it out ...thank you for the help

Did the jake work correctly before you installed tune up kit?
-
Nope, that's what it came into the shop for...Oxbow Thanks this.

Nope, that's what it came in the shop for.... Jake brake ineffectiveness

Just looked at an application table and according to the motor that we have in this Peterbilt it should have a 340 C and not a 340 B Jake brake so the question I've got his what is the difference.....
-
So which kit did you use? For B or C. I have seen 340A on a 6NZ before and worked fine. Starting to sound like you have worn bores and pistons.
Caterpillar Cowboy, SAR and Oxbow Thank this.
