Well i went from running OTR teams making $65,000 a year. Out for 4 weeks at a time.
To $80,000 a year running doubles as a team home every weekend.
So yes doubles increased my pay alot. -
FedEx requires doubles/triples and hazmat endorsements of all their drivers, both line and P&D.From what I understand, the east coast doesn't utilize them as much, but over here, I was handling sets on a daily basis, sometimes up to 3 or 4 per day. We were paid by the hour, and there was no increase for sets, it was just part of the job. The line drivers (FedEx calls them "road drivers") are a different story. They're paid by the mile, plus drop/hook pay, detention pay, and some other stuff, I'm sure. Currently over here they make .65/mile for hauling either 53' rail cans or sets, and .70/mile for triples. Most of them are home daily, with only a handful doing layovers before coming back the next night.

Oh neat. 10 year old dead thread

I currently run reefer, but was interested in joining the doubles/triples club. How much experience is required for triples alone?

First, triples aren’t legal in every state. Only 13 states allow them and they’re mostly western states.
Second, companies that run them may require at least 5 years wth doubles until they even consider anyone for pulling triples.
