I'm thinking the your airlines are too short. I can count on a few fingers (3) how many of those coiled plastic lines I've broken in the cold attaching them to the trailer since 1989 and none in the act of turning. But I have always pre-stretched them and set them to the right length which of course depends upon your tractor and trailer.
I've been using the super long rubber ones for about a year now and love them as we haul a variety of trailers and equipment that requires the length of ours to be adjusted based upon depending on what we're pulling.spyder7723 Thanks this. -
if you buy the copper rings that go on the plastic lines you can repair the split plastic lines with the copper rings in a few min.

Sounds like you’re stretching them too tight if they’re breaking at the gladhand. Try a 15ft set of coils or get a rubber set like the one in the pic above. Make sure you get springs to hold the lines off the deck plate if you go with the straight rubber lines.

magoo68 Thanks this.

In a pinch you can reverse them coming out of the cab to supply air if the line snapped and broke the line. You won’t have trailer brakes, but it will save a massive tow bill.
mitmaks and Justrucking2 Thank this. -
Truck Pro has rubber. I'm getting a set when I break another.go a spare for now.

But I agree with you on rubber lines if they’re up at the back of the cab as long as he has a way to tie them up. -
Long FLD Thanks this.

The rubber ones are more durable but I love how you don’t have to adjust the curled up ones.
I did have to ditch my trailer one time though and run to Napa and install new lines because one broke on me.
If I lived where it was warm year round it’s all I’d run. I put on another set of curly lines. They are cold weather Phillips ones. We’ll see how long they last. So far so good 10 months later. -
Two years ago, my terminal went through 87 coiled airlines in one winter. Convinced the boss to switch to rubber, we have replaced one since, and that was due to a driver not storing properly.
