And if you pull the same trailer all the time, spend the few bucks for urethane seals.

I'm thinking the your airlines are too short. I can count on a few fingers (3) how many of those coiled plastic lines I've broken in the cold attaching them to the trailer since 1989 and none in the act of turning. But I have always pre-stretched them and set them to the right length which of course depends upon your tractor and trailer.
I've been using the super long rubber ones for about a year now and love them as we haul a variety of trailers and equipment that requires the length of ours to be adjusted based upon depending on what we're pulling.

if you buy the copper rings that go on the plastic lines you can repair the split plastic lines with the copper rings in a few min.

Sounds like you’re stretching them too tight if they’re breaking at the gladhand. Try a 15ft set of coils or get a rubber set like the one in the pic above. Make sure you get springs to hold the lines off the deck plate if you go with the straight rubber lines.

You get those plastic rolly polley lines in the cold and they love to snap. Go rubber and never look back. I have had mine for 3 years now, that winter of 2015/16 cured me of plastic. Lost 3 lines in two days in Indiana, all brand new, all snapped.

In a pinch you can reverse them coming out of the cab to supply air if the line snapped and broke the line. You won’t have trailer brakes, but it will save a massive tow bill.

I run the severe duty coiled plastic lines and have good luck. My lines come out the rear of my frame and it’s easier to keep coiled lines tied up.

But I agree with you on rubber lines if they’re up at the back of the cab as long as he has a way to tie them up.

Ours come out of the back of the frame too, and two springs from the trailer to the hoses keep them off the ground rather nicely.

The rubber ones are more durable but I love how you don’t have to adjust the curled up ones.

I did have to ditch my trailer one time though and run to Napa and install new lines because one broke on me.

If I lived where it was warm year round it’s all I’d run. I put on another set of curly lines. They are cold weather Phillips ones. We’ll see how long they last. So far so good 10 months later.

Two years ago, my terminal went through 87 coiled airlines in one winter. Convinced the boss to switch to rubber, we have replaced one since, and that was due to a driver not storing properly.
