Thanks for the advice guys, I’ll definitely work on trimming down my list. I just hate the thought of turning down a load because I don’t have the right gear, so that’s why I went a little overboard with it.

Rooster why aren’t you a fan of slip hooks? Seems like there are some guys that like them and some that don’t but no one has really explained why.

Slip hooks are the junk drawer of securement. It's so easy to use them they get used even when they aren't the best solution. I have seen them used when they have been bent out of shape, tip broken and stretched.

Don't get me wrong, they have their place but what you're planning to do they aren't necessary. Very few things you could haul with a stepdeck will be suited for a sliphook. You won't be pulling super heavy so no d6 coders. Not sure a d4 would even fit on a step for height.

D6N is only a tick over 10', they'll fit on a step no problem. We haul our D4K on a dozer truck and it's fine.

Also, get some r pins for your chain hooks. Get rid of the cotter pin and replace it with an r pin. Easy to remove the hook and slide the chain through an anchor point.

I was thinking about height not width or weight.

    I am too, they're only 10' tall, we've got 6 of them.

Gotcha. I had to get out and look at what I was hauling. Scratch the d4, d6 comment. I'm hauling a d9. That's the machine I meant.
