May trucking

The only issues I had with them was truck was not running right and I had a bad dm but that is well known about bad dm's out of the terminal I was at in Layton.

But I will say I was treated verry well by all of the others at May If you go to any other terminal everyone will treat you with respect not like you are just another driver.

 

Yep, 11 west. My longest run at May was from Seattle to LA. Lots of back and forth 200 mile runs in WA and OR . Personally I don't like long runs anymore. I prefer the 1.5 or 2 day runs under the new log requirements. Would not want to be shut down for the day with a snow storm headed toward me. nor do I like to hang out at grocery whses waiting for hours after I am unloaded for some union checker to check the load.

I like the dry freight that goes to outfits that are happy to see you and get their stuff off the truck, not find reasons to treat you like cattle at 0100. To many of the former versus the latter for me at May.

Under the old log books I always had some hours and many breaks where taken at shippers and receivers. Man it was so much easier back then. All they needed was the restart to be added.

They don't pay this old dog enough to put up with all the company rules they have now. They punished everyone for political expediency because of the actions of a few. No freedom, no OTR in my book.

 

just solo'd on fri and now waiting for a truck. my trainer was a hard #####, but knew what he was talking about. I finished my trainer in 13 days. last couple of days were scary, going up to brooks with that snow.. had to chain up 3 different times. a good learning xperience.

the drivers who don't know the upside from the downside of their chains.

..u can bet on it if you've been watchin' the local news here.. if u go anywhere near mountains this time of year you'll need to know how to "chain up".. good luck to ya & keep us posted how your training there goes!

 

I have only one complaint about May- and that was it took them more than 5 days to decide what to do with my broken truck. I never had to wait for a load - whether I was Western 11, or running 48... I never had a problem with the shop guys - if I asked for something, they did their best to take care of it (only experience was Layton and Peyette). I had excellent DMs. Truck and trailers in excellent condition (well, except the one truck that was broken from the outset)

No pay problems
No Load problems

I usually drive it on 60-65....I got 6 to 6.5.....I think it's better.
