I hauled a lot of aluminum off the docks in Mobile to that mill in Scottsboro. That was back in 95-98 , I wonder if that place is still open.

Oil by product called "slurry" around here. Its whats left over after the gasoline, diesel, and kerosene are removed from the oil, nasty stuff, really hot and stickier than super glue, whatever you get it on is ruined. Gotta be really careful with it unless you don't mind going through boots and clothes everyday. It gets hauled to a carbon plant in Borger, Tx from the refineries. Also you can haul hot asphalt that goes to all kinds of places regionally, Ok, Ks, Tx, Mo. Pays pretty good.

Yes. And that is from experience. As they say, it usually only happens once. Forgot to say it was a Hot oil tanker. The slurry is around 180 degrees if I remember right.

Not sure since I don't pay the bills, but the owner doesn't like sitting on cores without having them out there making money. A large number of our 388's are CAT gliders. I think we are currently at 7 (some are brand new builds, others MX-13 conversions). Most of the Paccar units, especially the space shuttles, are leased.

We had a 2015 MX-13 blow a rod a few weeks ago (the one I picked up in Calgary) and another nearly brand-new one a couple days ago (it's not even a year old now, fortunately still under warranty).

Unless he's building them to be show trucks, based on reliability alone, they are probably a more sound investment and will cost less in the long run than brand new emissions garbage.

Funnily enough, they've started making modifications to the older Paccar units recently, and have been having almost no problems with any of them. And drivers aren't complaining about lack of power.

I keep hearing a rumour being passed around that CAT is sitting on a brand new non-emissions highway tractor motor, waiting for the day that all the DEF garbage is tossed in the bin.

I wouldn’t count on ever seeing that day, unfortunately.

Not unless corporate America loses a bunch of power in the next election, no. The fact that that garbage costs as much as diesel fuel should indicate to anyone that it's a scam.

"Let's come up with an idea to make truck owners pay twice for diesel fuel!"
