Well I would say that anyone who says that they arent worried a bit about frieght is either nuts or they have a very special niche that they dont have to worry about. I think that frieght will be slow for at least the first quarter. But ATS is a debt free company and that certainly cant hurt. I think we will probably move back to more specialized stuff, but then again if things are slow Im sure they will move anything that pays!

Did you get a RGN out of the Laredo yard? Everytime I've picked one up its always sitting on the ground. And the guys from Mexico still all the rubber seals out the glad hands!

Wish we could get some nicer yards, besides rocks and mud.

Pathfinder, over the last couple of days I have read your entire thread and found it to be very entertaining. I can relate to most of it from my time OTR flatbedding. I think it was a good thing for you to write this and I am SURE it has helped alot of the new drivers get a feel of what goes on out there and to reassure them that no they are not the only ones to ever screw up, get lost, or otherwise have trouble on the road. If you haven't had problems it's because you haven't put the truck in gear yet. Anyway, thanks for sharing.

I had a guy down there tell me back in March that they always steal them because they keep track of their loads for the day that way.

Heck if I know but I never went to Larado again without plenty of glad hands seals.

Hello again pf. Just wondering about your fuel statement. How do they fuel? Chosen for you? Are u able to choose because of excessive complaining or because of the time you put in?

We have a book that lists all of our "approved" fuel stops. If you use one of those you just swipe your card and fuel. If you need to go "off network" you need to send in a request. It takes very little time to get it approved. Say less than a minute usually. If it takes longer its because dispatch is busy thats all. Fuel stops arent chosen for you any other way, ie its not a preplan you have to follow etc.. I dont think I got the open fuel card from complaining, I never did, and only asked for a different fuel stop 1-2 times. My FM just opened it for me. It could be from "time served" but I really hadnt been there all that long when it was opened. I would guess that you do have to show some responsibility and that you can do your own planning or something. I would guess that they need to find out how dependable/trustworthy you are or something like that. I mean they are giving you a company fuel card, cant blame them for wanting some kind of control!LOL

Aint that the truth! And how about some decent showers! And a nice lounge would be nice! Laredo, Jax, and NJ, and lets not forget Baltimore are sad, really sad.:biggrin_25516: Fontana is the best I think, besides Gary I guess, but the yard is getting smaller now that Suncoast is using the back part of it. They spent $10 million or so on the "glass palace" would be nice if they spent a LITTLE on the terminals!LOL

Sorry, didn't mean it like that. Just if you were in a position that you felt like you had to constantly nag. That's all. I have to take 15 minutes of my time just to get 40gal of cheap fuel at a ridiculously crowded t-stop, cause everyone else is doing the same thing. Burn up my time in sleeper berth waiting to fuel and of course the 15 minutes. Blah!

Thanks 4 answering,.. pf. How many days can you bank? Or did I ask that b4? Are log books loose leaf or bar-coded?

I keep on lookin' for your 'red vulva' Path but haven't spotted it yet!

    Much Thanks, Happy New Year!:biggrin_25519:

NO problem! I dont know what I did to get the card opened really, just called one day for it for some reason and she just said "I left it permanently open". I wasnt gonna complain or ask too many questions!LOL As to logs, they are able to be loose leaf. Days banked is a trickier question, I dont really know. I have always been able to take as much time as I need. But I also try to have 7 days out for each day I take off. This hometime was a bit different, a they allowed me to come home three days earlier than I requested. That was probably more a condition of slow freight and me being pretty close already. I'll call in tomm. to see if they can get me a load or whats up.

    Thanks 4 response PF,

Say, i remember you suggesting to your company that they should offer a crash course for oversize, like they do for load securement. Google 'oversize load and pilot car directory' A Keen driver told me about it, u can't find them in every t-stop. I got mine at a Bosselman in Nebraska. It has all kinds of handy info in it.

Stuck in Florida with another driver from my company. At least we are warm, but have been sitting in the middle of nowhere for a couple days, sigh, this economy sucks rusty tail pipe!
