Hi all, There is another thread on here about the meal at Flying J tonight...but I figured Id start a new one, see if anyone went.
I heard about this a month or so ago, or whenever they started to announce it. Volvo trucks and Michelin were the ones behind it / buying you dinner.
Since my wife is back in MN for a couple weeks, I stopped at one on my way home. I sat down and asked for the dinner and the gal told me to help myself...that threw me off guard. Apparently it was from the buffett which was Christmas themed. Turkey, fried chicken, ham, penne mac n cheese, stuffing, meatloaf, soups, desserts...etc. Im also assuming it was all you can eat, though I didn't push it...just had one plate full with a cup of soup.
All in all, not bad. At the end of the day, it was still a buffett and Flying J food, but heck...Im not complaining...it was over 11 bucks worth of food for free.
You did have to register at Volvos website to see which locations were serving the dinner.
Apparently it was pretty busy there was well. I got there around 6:30 and the gal told me after a bit I had to bring the reciept up to the cashier before 7, otherwise it wouldn't be free (must have been one of the rules of the promotion). Brought up the reciept, he said "11.73"...I showed him my CDL, and the numbers changed to "0" lol
Anyone else go out for this dinner?

I went up near Carlisle, PA, the wait staff was a bit overwhelmed but, not gonna complain about a free dinner. Didnt know about the had to be done by 7pm, good thing I was done at 6:30. Didn't even know about it till I was about 5miles south on 81 headed to that exit to fuel, someone going south was nice enough to put the word out over the CB, so worked out good for me.\\
Guy sitting next to me said TA and or the J was doing it tomorrow as well, know about that? I will be running to columbus, and detroit tomorrow, be nice to have another christmas dinner, would be my 3rd. LOL -
I sent my husband a text message this morning reminding him about it and told him of participating locations on his route. He was thinking it was tomorrow night so he was glad that I reminded him. He said the buffet was good. He rarely eats out so it was a nice treat.

I enjoyed the free meal it was one of the better J meals that I have had

I was home by 6 p.m. Christmas Eve but I got a free meal the 23rd . I came up U.S. 79 into LA out of TX . I fueled up at the Casino with the fuel pumps in Greenwood just south of the Flying J . They told me you get a free meal when you buy over 100 gallons . The free meal is any sandwich on the menu , fries and a drink . Beats the $1 credit on the Pilot Payback card for 100 gallons . Fuel was $2.29 a gallon too - 5 cents a gallon cheaper than the J .

I didn't make it for free meal but a friend of mine did. He stopped # the Brookville, PA J. Since he chouldn't get fuel since they were out he at least got the free meal n said it was pretty good.

Many J's have been OUT of fuel in the last few days....so much for business as usual.
