what does grabbing gears mean???

    does it mean just regular shifting or does it mean not shifting correctly??

    In my opinion it's just a saying for the more you grab the faster you go....So grab a gear an go!! :)

    It just means shifting. Another words you are grabbing gears as you shift.

    It means just what it says. Wind it up in one gear, grab another.

    IE shift to the next higher gear, or lower.

    In most cases, it's the higher gear.

    Yep unlike a car where you can just shift at any rpm or gear, a big truck you have to time it just right so its kinda like grabbing something as it moves, if you miss the right time you miss the gear.

    If you miss one gear there are others you can "grab".
    It's all about road speed and engine speed merging together.

    Just don't miss when starting (at a dead stop) from an incline; or miss as you prepare to go down long steep grades like Donner, Conway (395), or Siskiyou.

    I think grab can have two meanings. It can simply mean shift, or find a gear.
