Is there a usable route north of Atlanta that allows you to go from I-75 to I-85 or I-20 north and/or east of Atlanta?
Thanks

If your trying to skip I-285 forget it.
You might run out of hours trying to get
Thru all those back roads with a 1000 stop lights. -

There is GA state hwy 20. But unless you just got time to burn stay off of it. It's Shorter in distance but just as long or longer in time. As going down to 285 and around.

Smut Thanks this.

If Im going to hit Atlanta at the wrong time in the mornings and Im going to 85, I get off and go around hwy 20. Hauled alot of cement to Canton back in the day so It doesn't bother me to ride through every now and then

I did that option once maybe 15 years ago in the wee hours of the morning and even then I remember thinking it probably wasn't worthwhile. I'm sure today with all the growth and additional traffic it's not worthwhile any time of day unless there is a severe closure on 285 in the appropriate direction.

85 is awful. From ATL to the NC line. So heavily congested. So many steeringwheelholders. I try to avoid it as much as possible, and if I do have to run that road, yu can best believe that I am getting paid a good rate to deal with the nonsense.
The worst thing is nowadays, when something bad happens, like an accident, with most of 85 being two lane north of Atlanta, and the drivers run out of hours...things get really hazardous. -
No.
Forget it. It's not worth it. If you are already at Atlanta, you lose in terms of time lost in traffic. God help you if a snowflake hits the place... oh wait it's full of snowflakes living there... erf..
What you DO NOT want ever to do is cut through downtown core of Atlanta.
If you have plans to route around Atlanta, get it done before you hit that Georgia Line.Driver91 and Trucker61016 Thank this. -
