I took I-80/I-90 across Indiana/Ohio once and was never charged for it... It might depend on your DBL.
I also never did that again though. The only reason I risked it in the first place was because I was behind on time. I'm not sure if they weighed the on-time delivery versus the tolls.
I have heard, though, that you can call your DBL and pre-authorize routes that would save time. I've never done it, but I have re-written my own routes a couple of times. Never bothered about it, and I've never seen a dime taken out of my pay for it.
