Day two, not impressed so far with dd15. Doesn't pull as good as my 525 ISX. Didn't get a good test on fuel, think it was better than ISX. Not a good test mind you engine is brand new and it was -35. Got my fingers crossed that it is more reliable and gets better milage, it can't be much worse in both cases. I was getting almost 3 mpg with ISX. thank you everyone for your responses

I don't know for sure the reason, but Schneider sent all of there Cascadias back to Freightliner and told them to keep'em. The rumor I heard from some of the mechanics is that the trucks (don't know if it was chassis, motor, or drivetrain problems) had to many problems and spent most of there life in the shops. The drivers that had them and I have spoke to hated them. Most agreed it was just not designed right inside and that the quality stinks. Like I said this is just rumor and hear say.

Schneider has over 1,000 DD15s on order for 2009. I guess they like them after all. Our fleet maintenance director knows a SNI terminal director very well and he says they loved them and that they were very easy to do preventive maintenance on. They got better fuel economy than the Series60 which was already the best in their fleet. They have some ISXs on order as well. All in Freightliner Century S/Ts or so I was told.
I spoke with one of our drivers today to get his opinion on the ISX vs DD15. He said he thought they both pulled about the same. Both are very quiet and responsive. I'm glad we have both in our fleet so we can get a good judge. So far, the DD15 has slightly better fuel economy than the ISX....but the DD15s are in Cascadias and the ISXs are in ProStars. Just a few minor issues with both engines...mostly fault codes and fuel filter plugging. -
good luck on that....3 mpg really hurts when you're paying over $4 for diesel. At least it's down close to $2
I have noticed that my engine computer reports for fuel economy have shown to be very inaccurate lately. I'm not sure if it's something that has happened since EPA'07 with the regenerations or the ULSD or what. But I'm starting to think that the ULSD has hurt our fuel economy more than we predicted.
My suggestion would be that if you don't have to run ULSD, try a few tankloads of regular diesel to see if it gets better. If you have an EPA'07, then you can't experiment.
Otherwise, it sounds like something is wrong if you're only getting 3 mpg unless you're idling over 50% of the time or you're running the engine too fast. If I were you, I'd take it into the Cummins distributor to have him take a look at it. Something doesn't sound right. -
Dave66 it all depends on how he spected it how he drives it and what he hauls with it. I dive up in canada Ont we run 140,000 lbs gross big diff from 80,000lbs gross I run at 105km or 62 miles hr and have 18 speed with a 373 rearend in a new cascadia and I'm getting about 5.5 with it some times more some times less aldepends on head wind hills ect ect to many things to factor in all u can do is try to spec it for what you think your running . Now as for the isx only getting 3mpg I say if it is an 08 I can almost belive it as we have a prosatr and it gets anyware from 1 to almost 2mpg less then mine with the same hp 560 well his is 565hp with 1850tq so I don't no were they went wrong with it as my 05 isx got me 5.5 anyday of the week doing what im doing now so I think they went the wrong way for now anyhow hope this helps some one Oh and I still don't like the new DD15 It has less power then my old Isx come up here and pull a real load and tell me your DD15 is still better haha just buging ya I just got it out of the shop again 5 days down oh well try it again

This is all part of NAFTA....devalue our rigs so that Mexican trucking companies can purchase them for pennies on the dollar and run them "smokers" right back to CA under a "Federal Exemption" running at rates less than half.
That was the purpose of NAFTA was it not...leveling the Playing Field????dangerous dave Thanks this. -
SI SENIOR, eso es la verdad!

Yes, I think so. Pose this accusation to your local pol at a "town hall meeting". You will get a look like you have a sexual organ growing on your forhead. It's not polite to hold them responsible for the real results of their legislation. Go figure.

The It Sucks was an 08 525 hp in a T800 Ken. Got as low as 1.9 mpg one day pulling a real Canadian load. The Cascadia with 565 hp is averaging just about 5 mpg. Every thing same as far as gears and tranny. Really nice and quiet truck but wouldn't pull a sick ho off a piss pot, they keep telling me it will get better, somehow I don't beleive them, you all know what that is like. Not real impressed with DD so far.
