when ever i had to move a dolly a few feet, i'd "walk it" by the tires. otherwise, if a longer distance, then if i could find a yardman to do it, or i'd have to use the pintle hook myself.

weather conditions like unplowed snow or ice made this a joy to do.

That’s great... until you have to break your set at customs, and you have no idea how. I’ve had to help clueless yrc drivers about a dozen times so far.

LoneCowboy and Bob Dobalina Thank this.

I make an additional $150 a week on drop & hooks, leave mine alone!

Yea all my drop and hooks sure do add up at the end of the week now too. It’s worth it. But I do miss pulling into the yard tired as all hell and just parking it and going home vs having to break it apart and putting them to doors.

I pulled dbl and triples for 33 years. Hooked and broke down my sets. Hooked in one yard, run the trip, breakdown in another location, hook another set, return. The poster didn't say what location he would be driving out of. 3 railers ( chains) weigh 90 lbs. when the snow is flying, temps are freezing, and you are wrestling chains ( putting on or off) tendinitis or arthritis is not going to make the job fun
