Very well said. I didn't take any of what you said as a negative thing. I am one of the few people that know there is always things to learn from people that have been in the industry as long as you have. I always listen to what they say and use what I can of it. I told my old employer when I left that I didn't what to sit here and say "what if." I have always been the type of person that tries to experience as much as possible that interests me. That is why I wanted to at least try this out and if I end up not liking it then I can just walk away and go back to being a company driver. Thanks for telling me your story.

I don't even know what home expenses are... I get 23 cpm and as a team we run at least 6 thousand a week, sometimes we get paid for 8 because of the pay cycles.FullMetalJacket and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

You know this is the part where some of them guys come in and say that's not much run and look for better opportunities but I feel like it's pretty good for a guy with no experience, no work history, and has spent the last 5 years living on less than 10k a year, and sometimes half that. If I were you, I'd just ride that thing out, and if your company doesn't give you enough work then raise hell with them. A few months ago I was sitting for 3 days. The first two I was ok with because I got to eat well and get some rest, but on the third day I arose from the dead... lol. I called them and told them I had waited long enough and if they didn't give me a load in four hours I was going to drive from minneapolis down to atlanta. I was supposed to be on my home time in a few days and I said I'd just start early. So,about 20 minutes into my trip home, I got a load assigned going home, and since then I haven't stopped. Your employer can only treat you how you let them.Another Canadian driver and Jarhed1964 Thank this.

Thank You,and your very welcome. There's nothing wrong with working hard and taking chances.Thats how most successful people get were they are. Today we're lucky to have the internet and the ability to have an insane amount
Of information and networking to draw from . Sure there's non sense on here ,but there's a lot of great information.I wish I didn't have to endure a lot of the mistakes I made through the years . I'm interested in many things too ,and like to do my research . I've been in a bunch of other businesses other than trucking through the years . I buy and liquidate equipment ,I've owned 3 restaurants and recently just bought a Farm (I'm not a farmer,We just fell in love with the property and it came with a big commercial shop that I run my business out of) I also just bought a diner on the highway,I've been trying to buy for 10 years and just bought it this past summer. Trucking and taking chances and being an information sponge has helped me do this, with not a lot of credit or money. But quite frankly Putting my faith in God and not worrying about what other people say and learning as much As I can and watching succesful people and respecting their opinion has been some of the most valuable things I've ever learned in life.Good Luck....Another Canadian driver, Tyreman and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Just a quick question for everyone. When I list my truck expenses would you like to see each individual expense or is how I did it ok?
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
I think the home expenses are confusing you don’t typically see that. I wouldn’t worry about lease bashers invading your thread, it’s your decision on how you make a living. Good Luck!

What are "home expenses"?

Exactly. And it doesn't matter what they are when comparing lease purchase to company driver.Space Truckin, Another Canadian driver and spyder7723 Thank this.

Home expenses are my home bills. This is something you don't typically see included in other peoples threads and they should be really as long as your paying something on the home front. After all why wouldn't you include this as an expense for your business? Maybe I am doing it different but whatever works right. I really am trying to include everything that goes in and out of the financial side of my business.
Also due to people asking about my miles driven I will have more accurate numbers from this point on. Unfortunately due to a change in accounting software I lost all my mileage numbers for this check I put up.Last edited: Mar 17, 2018

About the only thing I am not enjoying about this venture is not knowing my actual fuel costs until I get paid lol. I keep track of what I spend at the pump but I get a pretty good discount from my employer. I am just the type of person that likes to know exactly what my numbers are at all times.
