    You’ll have them thar pics.

Still a lot of noise. Ran by house today to grab a few things. At Weatherford Petro into tomorrow. So, CB on list.

Out in Texas Panhandle (not IH40) can run wide open until refrigerator compressor kicks in. Been switching back and forth from Galaxy 979 to Uniden 880. The Bearcat has better “noise control”. I’ve favored the 979 until now as receive has seemed better. Going to stick with 880 until static problem bettered (radio will be last item purchased).

On IH-20 thru Dallas/Ft Worth I dial it back some. I can “hear” five miles (known situations) but not with clarity. 2-3 more like it. One or so unless other truck has decent radio.

Front or rear is similar. Passed a couple of guys telling jokes late last night. Great audio as they hung in about two miles behind me.

But this is a huge jump from before which was nearly nothing with stock built-in antenna.

When had overhead console “loose” the trucks stock coax and power were stuck up above. And middle shelf removed. A pic to show. BC-20 Velcroed to RH side. Have to turn audio higher to hear. But it’s out of way. Will move closer to opening.

I’ll fiddle with it all again tomorrow as time was running short the other day. Basically, remove screws and fit power and coax thru. Driver dash gauge console moves to fit coax to a grommet high on firewall to feed antenna.

Power continues down to entry plate. Remove it and lift flooring. Taped body hole several inches both directions. Right above BATT box.

And a correction: I looked all over for Skipshooter. West Memphis Ray didn’t stock (that week at least); I picked up a non-T nail Fire Stick 6.5’ or taller. Totally forgot that. Hell, I’m 6’2” and it’s a good deal taller than me. Picked up a second a few days ago. Didn’t need to tune either on the 2015 or this 2019 Cascadia.

I’ve not forgotten phrase about fiberglass antennas that they’re static magnets. Seems true. I look forward to experimenting with other types.

Saw a guy this morning in a pre-2017 Cascadia condo with a 102” whip. Antenna was nearly horizontal to avoid being above roof.

Odd that the fibreglass ant gets alot of static...just a thought, notice a difference in static when you apply brake pressure goin down the road??If yes try graphite in front hub oil..You will have to research how much cause i forget....
2..Grab a cab of spray on rubber like plasti dip and try a lite coat over the antenna to see what happens...
Only electronics issue with noise are my hid in the high beams and pluggin in my gps/cell charger.....try a better shielded coax....make sure it your trucks fridge to..
Other than a 102 there is no point tryin any other antenna unless you try a higher mount position..

Only the Dometic 12V ref/frzr makes noise. Had a noisy 3 into one charger plug that got removed. The Garmin GPS and “Tough One” high speed Iphone charger are null in this regard.

Triple axle discs don’t change anything.

The DD-15 / dt-12 auto is ###### sophisticated. Could be something here, but I’m not going to do anything.

I picked up some shorter 5’ fiberglass antennas while at house (Everhardt tunable tip and ProComm Quad Wrap. Will use them for comparisons. I’ll also swap the other FS.

Next 34-reset I’ll try one of the Wilson 2000s and all the hardware that I’ve accumulated with them (stingers, extensions, etc).

Grabbed a ring terminated ground strap from the box. I’ll tie the mount to a body bolt.

Also have a ProComm bird perch. So, several swaps to take place.

    Thx for all suggestions.

Hey, have you noticed any change in SWR or noise when opening the door? My SWR sits at about 2.2ish with the door shut, then drops to 0.5ish when the door is opened. Specifically it only drops when the catch mechanism locks-in, that deal that's supposed to prevent the door from swinging shut on it's own.

Mine is on a 2015 cascadia, but I was just curious to know if anybody else has experienced this issue. Haven't gotten any replies to my post yet.

Slowmover 1, let us know how the other antennas compare to that big 7-foot fiberglass. It's always interesting to hear of these tests involving various antennas on new rigs.

TimeTorn, I just said in your other post that it sounds like more bonding / grounding is indicated.

Time torn...Use some wide braded strapes on the door hinges..Gonna get a reaction anyways when ipen and closeing the door..

Slowmover.....Wasteing your time with the wilsons/shorter fibreglass ant and i wouldnt bother with a perch..The perch puts added strain on that one bolt and could strip ot out with constant wind force on the ant..Plus its one less connection to the truck(grounding point, you need more not less)
In the radio world height is might so useing a shorter ant will lessen rec potiential..

    Slowmover1 Thanks this.

I've got my old stainless steel Cascadia bracket I don't need any more. I think it will fit up to the 17s............
