after reading all there is to say about prime, Im stuck-- on this side, drivers say good things, and then some tell you nothing but negative stuff. I leave to go to prime today. i quit my other job at covenant because, (#1) i cant keep driving for 16 cent a mile.(2)i just dont trust my co-driver to drive on anything other than a dry road. and I can run. thats what other prime drivers have told me, If you wanna make money with this lease-- you better be able to run that truck.

Good luck buddy. I would advise against anyone going there but if its your last option I can see why. I'm just saying you might have a better chance at making some money at McDonalds than there.

I just came from the Prime Christmas party. Most guys say they are making money and doing well... not as well as before the downturn... I did run into 1 or 2 that were struggling.

With drivers comparing notes, I wish it was just one or two things you could zone in on that made a difference in being successfull here. Somebody isnt giving the whole story...

successfull guy rattles off a few tips/advice and struggling guys says "yep, I do that and still struggle" So either the tips arent as critical as successfull guy thinks, or unsuccessfull guy just agrees that he does it and doesnt want to look like a dope.

truckinman, your are new here. accusing ppl of being recruiters is somewhat inflammatory.
take a breath, read the postings as their is a lot of info. here to be learnt.
and once you feel compelled to post something not to come off as a know it all.

    thx.

AMEN Bigray! These new kids apparently find it impossible that a company could actually be GOOD. And who can really blame them when most of what you hear in the Whine Bars (truck stops) and see on this site is negative?
It is more than possible to run the business of a lease with Prime and still make it to a Party in Springfield. After all, that is where the action is, and it is fairly easy to switch loads there or get one from there.
Somewhere along the line some have gotten the idea that once you get a lease you have no more life. It is what you make of it.

Any driver can make it to a company party if they request it. Its as easy as saying, hey can you get me a load through the terminal. Also Springfield has quite a few shippers and recievers. Kraft being one of the biggest with a plant and a whole underground cave complex of storage.

My case, I didnt request it... in fact I got here only a half hour before it started. I dropped a loaded trailer in the morning about a 100 miles up I44 at Wal-Mart Dist. Then picked up a load of Charcoal going to Texas that is a drop trailer anytime on Monday.

My APU was acting up so I called my FM to make sure that if I came to Springfield for a fix, they wouldnt take my load from me. He said the load is yours unless they cant get you fixed in time to deliver. The idea of freight being slow and all those drivers wanting a load out of town the day after the party had me wanting to avoid the terminal like it was a black hole.

I dont appreciate your accusations... I have never solicited nor have I EVER had a anyone even ask me for my name to be used as a referal.

Free booze, quality food... no kids (summer picnic is family orientated with no bar) Who wouldnt want to attend. Met some cool drivers and played poker with them in my Hotel room.

Number one question I got from the guys was when and if I was going to lease (Im company) The all agreed with me that starting a lease before spring, in any type of economy, would be a struggle.

Second one was if I had thought about being an instructor. I said that I was too green to be teaching yet, and they were really suprised that I had been offered the instructor course a few months back with only 3 months solo under my belt. I think they were impressed with the fact I turned it down on the grounds of my inexperiance.

Spending time with my family and family last week, and then being on the road over Christmas was really tough, it was my decision to do XMAS this way... Has made me second guess my decision to drive OTR this week. We'll see if it passes.

Heck even I have been accused of being a recruiter! I haven't been in a rig for about 8 years, but my hubby drives. Just for making statements about how to survive and get ahead in the industry in general, I got accused of being a recruiter.

:biggrin_25525: LOL! Imagine, Lilbit as a recruiter! Like I said, apparently there are so many whiners, etc. out of here that if someone is happy and thinks a company is GOOD is accused of being a recruiter.

I'd never make it as a recruiter because I don't, nor could I do the sunshine song and dance that recruiters do!:biggrin_255:
