I had the same deal where I had to borrow a truck for a few days while mine was in the shop and it had a smell to it, none of the curtains were hung up, trash all over, so what did I do, well hung the curtains up cleaned the trash out, bought some 409 and went at it, I guess it is the way you are raised.

Sorry to get off subject but I going to see if this local job picks up and if not is there really any good companys left out there that you can make good money and still get home often or any ideas about going about to get my own truck ( I dont have alot of money down and my credit has been shot since I was 19, young and dumb,) any advice?
-
So do a lot of us that do take care of things
We just complain about everything else the others miss
-
This is pretty much true, I'm lucky to have a guy in there that I've known for years and he does take care of the truck as though it was his own. I've never had one complaint with him in it. For me it's an investment, for some it's just a piece of equipment. If you can't find a good one around local where you can keep an eye on the truck, you might as well sell the truck and save yourself a lot of headaches. The Challenger Thanks this.

An application fee to "apply" for a job??
You better check with your local ESC to be sure that's legal. -
And they sound somewhat like you.
-
Sorry, but that whole "You are a sub contractor and not an employee" deal is ILLEGAL.
-
I don't think it is illegal if you know before you take the job and they tell you, you have to pay your own taxes, social security, etc. and the company sends you a 1099.
I may be wrong but there is alot of it going on to be illlegal.

The subcontractor issue is very tricky when it comes to the IRS. Check it out sometime.

I myself take care of my uncles truck like it is mine. I wash it on my own time and buy the cleaning supplies with my own money. I polish the tanks and the chrome to keep it looking nice. I also look for the lower fuel prices when fueling on the road. I inside is allways kept clean and smelling good.
I take pride in what I drive and like to show that. It pays off because he put all the lights and other accessories on my truck that he did not on others because he knows I take care on "my" truck.
So not all drivers out there are bad and don't take care of stuff
just the ones that don't outnumber us that do.
The Challenger and rjones56 Thank this.
