I normally give them a little taste of payback by telling them something is wrong about time they come to a scalehouse normally a tire or something is out.

When It affects my safety, I'll say something. and I hardly ever speak to people on the CB. In fact, I don't warn to often that there is a bear waiting. If someone is going so fast that he may get stopped, then he should be stopped. Exception is when I am in Ohio. I warn about those cusses, because of their 0 tollerance.
When I am on the Mackinac Bridge, the speed is 20 with 4 ways going. there are Signs telling truckers to stay at least 500 Ft apart. that is 166 yards. approx. I run across that bridge at the speed of 22 so my Cruse won't pop off. and I am running almost always over 75000 lbs. I get a bit nervous when a couple of trucks come up and ride my butt. So I will tell them to Back off. Why? because I don't trust that bridge to support 240,000 lbs in one spot on the bridge! There must be a reason that they want the trucks to stay separated, and I for one want to obey that law. Now if I were only going 15, I can understand why they would tail gate. We need a bit of give and take sometimes! I stay 500 feet back when a truck driver is only going 15 and I really want to say, "SPEED UP A BIT!" But I don't.

One driver was writing about cb bullies the other day on this thread. Makes me think of one that was egging another driver into a fight, I could see him in his truck, he was so un fit that a flee could of kicked the xxxxx out of him. (I weigh 190 and am 6 foot tall. Ex Military and had extensive training in hand to hand Combat. Some of it you don't forget.) This driver gets out of his truck and walks towards the store, and I got out of mine at the same time. I ask him when he was going to kick my xxxxx (even though I wasn't the other driver). He turned 6 shades of white LOL. (really I am a lover, not a fighter. but he didn't know that)

Had a guy come up right behind me on the Mac a little while back. He didn't respond when I asked if he had his radio on but he did back off fairly quickly after I said they take the 500' spacing pretty seriously so I guess he was listening. Seen a driver pass another truck on there one time too. Someone got on the radio and told him that wasn't a good idea. He said he was empty so he it was O.K., he could do 45. The trucks/buses no passing seemed too much for him to grasp.

But yeah, unless it's affecting my safety I rarely say anything on the CB.

and you are right about them taking it seriously, they have cams all over that bridge. I live just 30 miles from it.

They can and do(I'm sure they try and wait) regularly pull ppl over on that bridge an issue citations.(I-10 Basin bridge)

Every week it seems they are doing a speed detail there. They will line 5-10 troopers on the shoulder after the bridge and use a radar gun from a helicopter or plane and then radio to one of the cars telling them which one to pull over.

When useing aircraft for speed inforcement, we don't use radar, we use a timer, we used to use the old VASCAR timer, but now we have binoculars with a build in timer. The observer must maintain visual contact with the target, start the timer at a predetermined mark, and end the timer at the end of the known distance. Then maintain visual contact until the chase car marks the stop.

When you see that big white mark on the side, and they a short distance up you see another, that is the mark for the timers.

Most states use marks that are 1/4 mile apart, out in the western states some marks are 1/2 mile apart, with the standard 1/4 marks you divide 900 by the time in seconds to get the speed. With the 1/2 mile marks you divide 1800 by the time in seconds, in Pennsylvania you divide 1080 by the time in seconds because their marks are 1/3 mile apart. Unless you have one of the state of the art timers that does the math for you.
I've been known to turn the plane during the timing so the observer breaks eye contact, once she breaks eye contact we let that one go or start over again.
I also have an HF radio on board, it's fun to listen on 27.185 AM to everyone talking about the bear in the air. Most of the time we don't go after anyone unless they're going t least 15 over.
