    Hey folks,
Did any of you installed a Series 60 engine in a Freightliner Cascadia, or did you hear any friends installing it ? My DD15 engine died and it will cost me 30-35k to overhaul it witch is ridiculously expensive. My local shop told me that is possible, I'll need a special harness kit, plus some modifications in the hvac and cooling system, mounting brackets, but I want to hear more opinions.
    Much appreciated.

Is it legal to do that? I'd like to know I thought it wasn't kosher to do a swap like that but I could be wrong. Technically its not a glider so I'm leaning along the lines its not legal to do but I could be wrong.

If its legal I'd do the swap in a heartbeat. Can't beat an old 500hp 60 series for mpg and reliability and decent power

I thought it was illegal to go backwards on emissions too. Though that's an EPA deal not DOT.

For me it would kill resale, however if it's what I had to do to keep my family fed........by all means brother

Unless its a glider I don't believe you can go backwards in emission levels. Upgrading to a newer emission level is ok though.

It's not that it can't be done it's weather you want to assume the risk that comes with doing it. First I don't see it saving you any money, By the time you get the series 60 and all the mods it takes to make it work and the man hours it takes to do it all. And then if your shop it good enough to make it all work rite together. Then there is the fact you can never go to a lot of places to get work done because you have some kind of Frankenstein truck nobody has a clue about. I personally wouldn't do it but if you feel the risk is worth taking it's your money and your business.

I think doing that with a truck that's supposed to have a "modern" engine in it would be a complete nightmare. You would be better off to overhaul the original engine and perform a "solution" to the aftertreatment.

Kustomtruck in Oregon makes a complete kit from wire harness to hose clamps. Around $6800.

It is not legal. That being said, how many of you have had the epa open up your hood to see what engine you have? Stay out of California and you would never get caught.

Harrison had some crapcadia s60 for sale not to long ago, I’m sure they could point you in the right direction of what you needed to swap.. Screw the epa and just stay out of commiefornia and some of the other nazi states and let her ride.. way to many fun police on this site.. lol on a serious note I wouldn’t put that much $$ into a crapcadia, as much love as I have for a S60 it doesn’t drown out the hate of a crapcadia lol.
