You are losing lots of money that way if you are doing spot market. Brokers don't really start paying till noon

Sometimes it does pay better to book early. When rates are weak and volumes way down you can, many times, book a much better rate 2 or 3 days (or more) in advance than you can by booking the day of something shipping. Right now is not one of those times. In the here and now the best money (van/reefer) comes to those who are patient. In many regions if you're booking before lunch time is over you're leaving a lot of money on the table.

My guess would be midwest, or southeast. Loads running 300 miles, or less, should be considered as a day rate, not mileage. Pretty much what he's done here, it's a structured daily rate, with the low and high built-in. Notice the "minimum" comment at the end of every rate quote. Means subject to change, (upward). Nice. Daily rate strategy is what's needed for short regional freight.

Yes it is a great strategy that I am going to apply when I get my authority. We live in the same area where regional and short haul freight is high.

I have DAT Membersedge and to see posted rate I have to clock it. I was wondering if DAT Power shows this information right on search results?

It does. That's one of the reasons it costs more. You get what you pay for. Buy cheap loadboard subscriptions and you'll see the loads 5 minutes after everyone else has already seen it possibly booking it making it "we just covered that" when you call on it, no automatic refresh for new loads, and having to click on every load to see if there is a posted rate. So why would anyone dependent on that for their sole income cheap out? You can get by in a hot market with cheap loadboards. When you go through a 2 year dead period the cheaper ones will cost you lots of loads. Just my opinion. There's also a $99 monthly membership for DAT board that shows the rate without having to click on the load and also has 15 day lane averages but I dunno what it's called.

As has been said ad nauseum load boards are not a good place to cut costs for people who get more than 10% of their freight from load boards.

Their customer service is second to none. They will school you on every little thing about that loadboard if you want. I'd recommend it because there's a LOT of info.
