915 this morning as I was waiting for the tow truck.

That's the intersection of Wellington and Commissioner in London, Ontario.

It was supposed to be an easy and short day, hook a trailer, go to pick up 30 kilometers away, load, bring it back home. Then leave for Maple Plain, MN Saturday afternoon.

But this stupid snow storm had other plans for me.
I got to the load part fine but then it went wrong.

At that intersection, the car in front of slammed on his brakes to stop on a yellow.
I had to slam on my brakes too. But that can create problems.
Like little mounds of snow in front of the tires. And a little ice underneath the tires. Combined that to the small grade up of the street, when the light went green, I was able (with great difficulty) to make it almost half way into the intersection.
    Then forward progress stopped.

(Here's a little piece of advice for you folks: when you are behind a truck that's barely moving forward, don't tailgate him.)

A silver minivan driven by a not very bright young woman, followed me no farther than 3 feet off my rear bumbper, meaning I was not able to go forward OR backward.

And every time I tried to go, I slid back a little.
Less than 5 minutes in the middle of the road. blocking 3 lanes of a major street, a police officer knocked on my door and asked me what he could do.

He and another officer were able to block and clear the line behind me far enough that I could back up and try to make a run for it.
But that failed and we had to call for a tow.

1 hour 45 minutes and $263 later I was on my way.
To a truck stop to weigh my truck and trailer.
Another little problem, I have 39500Lbs on my trailer axles. Only 34000 is allowed.
And no way I'm going back to shipper and get stuck in town again, I bring it back to our warehouse and shop staff will unload it and reload it (hopefully properly).

Whew! I thought at some point you were going to say you hit someone... Anytime you can slamm the brakes in the snow and not hit someone consider yourself a fortunate man.. I'll take that tow bill over the alternative.. :yes2557:

This week I went from Ingersoll, Ontario to Oshkosh, Wisconsin then to Minnieapolis, MN. And from there to here in Ferndale, WA.
    It's now Friday night.
Monday morning, I will deliver my load in Vancouver, BC.

Between Oshkosh and here, I took over 600 pictures.
Here are about 550 of them.
