Ok sorry been a long day. Couple things, first what did the bags look like when they were not in position? A fold in them? You can remedy that by putting more air to them when your empty. Second I'm guessing the problem tires were on the front axle? If so your suspension wasn't level across all the axles.snowman_w900, SAR and nikmirbre Thank this.

Sorry for the delay....its been a great week and I had a short weekend at home last weekend so I didn't even bother to get on here. Yes the air bags did have a fold in them and never fully aired up until a day or two after I unloaded the 64000# machine. 1 bag "popped" the way it was suppose to be as I was sitting doing paperwork after unloading. The other took a day or so.
Yes the problems were on my from axle. How to remedy that situation? Have my suspension raised all the way up when loading that heavy BEFORE being loaded?
Another side note....I picked up an oversize tank in Elyria,OH. Why on the Ohio permit it says the load must be non-divisible? Did that mean I couldn't load the pallet with it or nothing else oversize? It wasn't heavy.... I think thats only the 2nd time I've ran OD/OW in Ohio and I don't recall that being on my last permit. -
The non-divisible requirement is not an OH thing but a basic tenant of all overweight loads. You are permitting for the “special” condition -
If it is over legal gross weight - then you are restricted to a single non-divisible piece. So no you cannot haul the bulldozer and a the pallet of stuff. Lots of shippers do not understand this concept - so explain it this way - if it am overweight I can only haul one thing which do you want me to move 1) the machine or tank or 2) the pallet of fall off.
Some states will hassle you if you haul a fire truck and it has ladders or hoses on it as divisible.
The other condition you agree to when you haul oversize loads is that multiple pieces do not create a larger oversize condition.
This means if you are permitting for width you cannot haul multiple pieces side bay side - ie you cannot haul a 6’ pieces side by side and permit for 12’ wide. If you are permitting for height you cannot haul 2 stacked pieces 8’ tall and permit for 16’ tall. Or length you cannot haul 2 50’ pieces and permit for over hang or length. Pretty easy stuff.
Yes you can haul a 12’ wide crate and a 14’ wide crate if the ly are loaded end to end - as the 12’ crate does not increase your size.
Just remember if it is a weight permit - count to one and stop.snowman_w900, DozerCowboy, whoopNride and 3 others Thank this. -
Oh - and no you never want to load it especially unload your trailer heavy with the airbags inflated. You want to dump the air. You can over inflate it after loading or unloading.
kylefitzy, snowman_w900, SAR and 4 others Thank this. -
Most states specify that in all permits.

The best thing to do is air the bags up empty even over inflate them then dump them out completely before you load. That will eliminate the folds. You have to get that rear bogie level to be equal across all axles, I don’t care what anyone tells you the air ride will not compensate.
As far as your Ohio permit goes it says that because they all do, as long as you’re under 80,000 and it doesn’t add to the over dimension you can put all you want on there. We used to haul oversized crane boom with all kinds of stuff loaded with it.snowman_w900, nikmirbre, whoopNride and 3 others Thank this. -
Heres A little update......Going from Fayetteville to Baltimore Friday, I stopped to fuel and checked over my equipment....I noticed that the right side of my flip wasn't level with the rest(I was empty) I had a pin missing from my flip. I thought Id be ok with just 3........until I got to loading point and loaded and had them flip it for me. Well I get to Baltimore and do a post trip and the pin on top had broke!! So now I only have two pins!! Knowing what I know now..the top pin was not correct to begin with. It was a pin...but, it had a weld on the part where they put a small bolt through.
So the place I was loading at flipped it for me......I ordered 4 replacement pins from the manufacturer so I know Ive got the correct ones. Already cost me a good load...
Im delivering in Nashville Monday. I m gonna bring it back home and take it to Hale Trailer here just north of Charlotte and let them take a look and make sure all my suspension is in proper order and all.....snowman_w900, IH Truck Guy and Oxbow Thank this. -
Ok Ive got everything in order on the trailer.....all the lights work fine now my strobes are in order too!
Only thing is the ride height......now that I know my trailer better I'm thinking my leveling valve ride height setting is too low!!! I can go to the back and raise it up and down(like if I get high centered and need to move it up to get moving) When flipping the switch off it returns to the preset travel height....the problem is its too low...I have no air in the bags.
So I've located the leveling valve and gonna try to adjust it tomorrow after unloading this MRAP.....
Hopefully this will solve the problem!!truckmaster9400, cke, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this.
