Pay is 25% of the load. You get $600 worth of tools. If not returned it comes out of your pay. 3 days orientation, issued a Volvo or Frieghtliner with sleeper with a 13 speed. First 5 days you follow another driver to learn the ropes.

So what does that come out to in dollars per pay period? Do they pay demurrage?

I currently work here and can tell you all the ends and outs. First off orientation is 4 days long and paid when you take a dispatch. There are no cash advances so bring a few dollars with you. In orientation it' 2 people to a room no drinking alcahol even at night. You have to follow a trainer for 5 loads. You are paid 20% of the load while you are doing so. After that you go to 24%. Insurance is high deductible and 167 a week. Pay days are on Thursdays and paid on your fuel card no direct deposit. They use EFS. No pets or passengers. When you go on hometime you are NOT allowed to take your truck home. It must be parked in a approved lot of their choice so you will need a ride to the house. They are currently trying to build the fleet up so there are more trucks than there is work hiring 50 ppl a week. They do push the cpap thing. And it is electronic logs on Qualcomm. You will be required to purchase the hoses for blowing off and all the saftey gear including the red Stevens FRC and H2S monitor for a toatyal of just over $800.00. Be prepared to spend a minimm of 3 weeks gone. They do offer demerge that's basicly detention pay after 4 hours but have a ton of requirements for you to get it so basicly you never do. There are good weeks and bad weeks. Ive made as much as 1700.00 and as little as 150.00 for a weeks worth the work. They do micro manage like crazy cause they are a training company. It' not very well organized and getting a dirty broke down truck is very common right from the get go. They allow 1 truck wash a month. You pay for it then they reimburse you on your next check. When you go on hometime turn your phone off cause they gonna call trying to get you to come back early. You can not leave the truck for any reason even if on a restart overnight. If you want to get a room for your restart you have to park at an approved location and take a cab. If your probe to lung issues this is not the place for you. Frac sand does cause cancer. And it gets everywhere in the A.C. vents sleeper I mean everywhere so even healthy ppl are getting sick sometimes epically due to not getting truck washes very often so it just keeps sucking it in blowing it in your face. Most of the trucks are automatic. They are going to all automatic. You will make less than other sand companies so you have to be okay with this. Stevens slims from the top and sides basicly and chages you for everything they can so be prepared. A signal booster for your phone I recommnd cause it' a lot of time in middle of no where. The other drivers like to snitch for brownie points so be prepared for that. If someone takes any of your equipment be prepared to buy more. A lot of nights and day work. Caint be scared of heights cause you do have to climb up top to open hatches. Caint have heat issues cause it gets very hot in the suit out when your working unloading the trailer. Some well sites will search your truck and yes your sleeper too every time you enter. Stevens will try to tell you to come here to get training. Not telling you there's a few companies that pay more that offer training no exp required. Vista, and chalk mountain are two of them. Both offer free housing you don' have to sleep in your truck and higher pay and faster trucks. Stevens is at 72 now talking about dropping to 64 just like the refer fleet. They will jack your dac up when you leave so cover all you can when you do. Also your last check just write it off. On the up side it' hard to get fired but kind of sucks cause we are known as the swift of the oilfield other companies will talk trash on you so he thick skinned. Hope this helps take care drivers

Oh one more thing. A lot of these higher paying companies do run work for Stevens. Yes odd they are sub contracted under Stevens but lay more lol that' how much Stevens keeps. But anyway. Once hired with Stevens it' very hard to get on with a higher paying sand company cause they are told not to hire out drivers unless they want to loose work. So as of recently "wasn't always this way" once you come here you are pretty much stuck here.

Most of what was said is true. I currently work here too. During training, u are supposed to follow trainer for 5 loads but can be released earlier. Just depends on how quick u grasp it. I was released after 3 loads. You will get payroll deducted at $50 a week for ppe and hoses up to $800 but as a deposit. You will get it back if u return everything. I have 3 friends who have quit and received it. U get paid 20% during training, 24% for your first 30 days and then 25% after that until u hit 1 year. Pay is deposited to efs but you can set up efs to direct deposit to your bank account. My check hits my bank at 6am on Friday so I guess payday depends on your bank. In order to get demmurge( detention) time, u have to be on time or no later than 30 minutes late to the staging pad. In my experience, all i do is call if running late and have dispatch change the appointment so its never been a problem getting my demmurge pay. They'll have u give up 4 hours before they start paying demmurge. In reality, some companies don't pay it at all so I'll take what I can. If working South Texas, AT&T or Cricket wireless work best. In West Texas, Verizon is best. I currently use Cricket so no signal booster needed. Aa far as snitches go, you're gonna find that in any company you go to. Just do your job and CYA. Chalk mountain and Vista both pay by the hour for 12hrs a day. They run day cabs and slip seat. As far as 3rd party drivers making more than us, mostly its because they are owner operators. If they are drivers working for owner ops, i can guarantee they are not making a higher wage than us. They can say they are making 40% but they are being paid 40% after truck expenses. So they aren't making much. I asked a guy how much he would make off a Conroe load. He told me he was a driver working for an owner op and he was at 40%. He said a Conroe load paid him $285. I get 25% and I make $350 but recently just changed to $375. In other words, if someone is saying they make 40% , you have to ask 40% of WHAT? As far as equipment goes, we have all makes of tractors with APU and inverters ( which work on maybe 20% of the time). I drive a 2015 13 speeed Volvo. The older midroof Volvos and freightliners are manual transmissions. The newer KW and Peterbilts are automatic. My truck goes 75mph. Most other trucks are set at 72. As far as going down to 64mph, that would be a huge mistake, and i think alot of drivers would bail including me. I think they are going to Automatic transmission because they are better on fuel economy and because people tear up the manuals so quick by not shifting correctly. Now I'm in no way defending Stevens and trying to say they are a great company, because I'm not. I'm just giving my experience here. I've thought about quitting so much but I'm working in West Texas now and my pay is way up so think I'll stick around for a bit

Are you ####ing kidding me? You do know that it's illegal for them to charge you for required safety equipment, right? And having to buy your own hoses?? GTFO of here with that ####ing ########. I won't even get into the rest of what you wrote other than to say, with the plethora of other sand hauling outfits hiring right now, why in God's creation would any sane individual work for them?!?

I know this thread is old but I just got on with Stevens tanker out of OK but I'm local and hourly. I'll update as I get my feet wet with the company. I'm a 5 year driver kinda worried about working for a mega like Stevens so we will see.
